Eleanor L. Ritchey

Eleanor L. Ritchey, 102, formerly of Chestnut Street, passed away at 4 p.m. , Sunday, April 24, at The Caring Place. Born July 14, 1908, in Franklin, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Edward B. and Erma L. Shaffer Phenicie. She was married April 22, 1924 to Clarence G. Ritchey and he preceded her in death in 1978. Mrs. Ritchey was a member of the Cooperstown Evangelical Tabernacle. Mrs. Ritchey is survived by her sons, Wayne Ritchey and his wife, Billie Lee, of Cooperstown, Merle Ritchey and his wife, Anna, of Franklin, Fredrick Ritchey of Meadville, and Paul Ritchey and his wife, June, of Dayton, Ohio; and her daughters, Doris Ducasse of Stockton, California, Jean Keith and her husband, Virgil, Betty Gordon, Patricia Willyoung and her husband, Lawrence, all of Franklin, Janet Wilson and her husband, Ken, of Volcano, California, and Mary Jane Crawley and Nancy Ditzenberger, both of Franklin. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ritchey was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Ritchey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Ruth Coffey, an infant daughter, her sisters, Marjorie Green, Ruth Knight, and Lois Schwimmer, and her brothers, Robert Phenicie, Clarence Phenicie, and Dale Phenicie, and her grandson, Rolland Heasley. Family and friends of Mrs. Ritchey will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin PA, on Tuesday, April 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Cooperstown Evangelical Tabernacle on Wednesday, April 27 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Fultz, pastor of the Cooperstown Evangelical Tabernacle, officiating. Interment will follow at Old Sandy Cemetery.
