Guestbook

  1. My dad taught with Mrs. D for many years. I also had her as a teacher and she was always my favorite and the nicest person. She will be missed.

  2. My condolences to Mrs. D.’s family and loved ones. She was my home economics teacher for all 3 of my high school years. She had the kindest, gentlest way about her. She let me take my study halls in the home ec room. That room of hers was a sanctuary for me. I always felt safe there. Years later, she volunteered at my mom’s funeral brunch. She was just a gem of a human being. I loved her so much.

  3. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I had Dorothy as a teacher and she was a wonderful person!

  4. Mrs D was a professional who maintained order in her classroom and was kind to many students including me. She could bend the rules so to speak if she thought it would benefit one of her students in a safe and responsible manner of course.

  5. Dear Dyanne and family.
My deepest sympathy to you. Your Mom was very special. We tried to keep in touch with each other through CHRISTMAS cards and occasional phone calls. The last time I talked to her was a few months ago. JOHNNY WOULD also keep me informed. Many fond memories I have of her. She was loved by so many
She is now with your Dad and family.
Rest in peace and fly with the angels

  6. There really are not enough words to describe what Mrs. D meant to me. I had her for Home Ec like so many other students did, but she was not only my teacher, and my mentor, but she was also my friend. I graduated in 1983 and my brother was killed in an accident in 1984. She was there for me even then. Because that was the kind of person she was caring, loving, and compassionate. She came to his funeral and she hugged me and comforted me like a mother would with her own child. She was like a second mother to me, Always there. She didn’t have to be there for me after I graduated, but she was. She gave me her address on B Street so we could stay in touch and we exchanged Christmas cards for many, many years afterwards. But one year my card came back stamped no longer lives at this address. I was heart broken. I thought she had moved to live with her daughter. Had I known she went to the Hillside home I would have visited with her. I know she would have been there to comfort me when my mother died of cancer in 2012. I will surely miss her. But I know she will be a guardian angel in heaven looking down and watching over her loved ones. Please take comfort in knowing she was an angel on earth to some of us, and now that God has called another angel home, she has her wings. Rest in peace my friend until we meet again. I will always love you Mrs. D.

  7. I am so sorry for your loss. I will remember Mrs. D. for as long as I live. She was my favorite teacher of all time. But, she was so much more to me than that, she was a dear friend, confidant, mentor…there are not enough words to describe. She motivated me to be a better person and to try to achieve things that I didn’t think that I was capable of achieving. I found school boring and would often skip school, except for her class. I would beg other teachers to skip their classes so I could go to hers. She never turned me away. She made me believe in myself because she believed in me. She gave me the courage to go to college and make something of myself. For these things and so many more, I will never forget her. She was truly loved by me and all who knew her. I know she is an angel in heaven just as she was here on Earth.

  8. I have you in my thoughts and prayers. Mrs.D was an amazing woman. I had her for home ec and she had more patience than anyone I ever met. She always had a kind word to say and greeted you with a smile.
Mrs.D welcomed everyone at anytime. She was always encouraging and willing to help in anyway she could.
As I read her obituary an immediate smile came to me. What a joy she was and how blessed we were to have her as an educator.

  9. Mrs. D has always been a part of my best memories of high school and her spirit will live on in all of us that looked to her for her kindness and guidance. She loved to have fun and we all adored her. Love you Mrs. D, I hope that all of your dreams came true.

  10. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Mrs. D’s family. How fortunate you all are to have had her in your life. I also had Mrs.D for home-ec and was as fortunate to have her in my life. She’s one of those teachers that you will always remember. Always so nice, kind, helpful, encouraging and always with a smile. I won the sewing contest my senior year and I still have the outfit that I made. I remember a cooking project and mine was tuna salad stuffed tomato. Still one of my faves! The last time I saw her she was helping prepare the lunch for my Moms funeral in 2001. I was so happy to see her and tell her how much she meant to me. She encouraged us, nurtured us, listened to us,taught us,cared about us and all of us found comfort in her classroom. I loved her so much. Thanks, Mrs.D!

  11. She was a gracious, graceful lady. A role model for many.
I can still hear her laugh!
Well, Di, we are officially “IT”. I hope we can pull it off as well as our mothers did.
Sorry I cannot make the service today. Consider yourself hugged.
My sympathy to you and yours,
    Ruth

  12. It was a pleasure caring for Mrs. D at Hillside Home. She was a resident that would make work fun, and she always knew what to say to brighten up a bad day. I enjoyed our daily chats about her family, my cats, and how excited we were that spring would soon be here so we could see all the beautiful flowers. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. Dorothy was, and still is, a wonderful woman. She will always be my grandma number two, and all of us at Hillside will miss her very much.

  13. Mrs. D was truly my favorite teacher. I graduated in 1981, and there is not a year that’s gone by that I haven’t thought of her. I loved her so much, that I took home-ec all three years in high school. She even let me spend my lunchtimes in the home-ec room to work on projects. She was just the sweetest person. Dyanne, I just learned last year that you are a friend of my Aunt (Bonnie Mason Rickert). I am so sorry for your loss, your Mother was a wonderful person.

  14. Always know we are sending thoughts and prayers. Dorothy was a joy to care for and will be truly missed. – Sarah, Alex and Penny. The night shift girls at HillSide Home-

  15. Mrs. D. was my very favorite teacher in high school. She was such a good teacher, but more than that she was a caring and loving person who made each of us feel special. My friends and I often talk about her and her class and how much we loved her. We have such wonderful memories of that time. We were blessed to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

  16. Mrs. D was a favorite teacher of mine, I will remember he always. She was a dear friend of my parents Bill and Sue (Kirkpatrick)Henry over many years. She taught with such warmth and kindness and drew me in with personal stories about fun times with my parents that I never would have known of. She once told me that her favorite time with her daughter was when they did dishes together, she missed this when she had gotten a dishwasher. She admitted to me that she had told everyone that the dish washer was broken so that she could enjoy the time she shared washing dishes and talking. The world was a much better place with her in it! I am thinking of her family at this time.
    Sincerely,
    Marnie Pistole

  17. Please accept my sincere condolences in the passing of your mother. She was my home economic teacher in the early sixties. With her guidance, I won the Betty Crocker Award for having straight A’s during those three years. She encouraged me to go onto college and become a teacher like herself. Unfortunately, I didn’t follow her advice. I can still picture her in the classroom as if it were yesterday. She had the patience and love of teaching which was her gift to the students. I will always remember Mrs. Dragosavac and may your family’s fond memories help you through this difficult time. “God Bless”

  18. Mrs D, as she was known to her students in my day, was hands down my favorite teacher at MASH. She always took an interest in me and my well being, and was just simply put…a kind, caring, and non judgemental person. I’m also told she babysat me as an infant and toddler ( she divulged that to me and my class mates and my mom verified:)). I took home economics because of it, and loved it. I was a frequent visitor to her classroom right up until the last days of Sr year. I even stopped in one time while in college and said hello, and she introduced me to her class and let me judge their recently baked pies. I wish I had visited her in recent years.
