Dorothy (Dot) M. Wayland, 84, formerly of Meadville, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, embraced by family and friends.  Dot was born in Freeport, PA and moved to Meadville in 1969 where she was an active member of the community for over 35 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, who passed away on June 7, 2013 and is survived by her daughter, Taffey. Dot Wayland was a prominent realtor in Meadville and surrounding communities for 30 years. She began her real estate career with Richmond Real Estate in the 1970s and worked for several other companies before eventually starting her own company, DW Real Estate.  Dot, authentic and ambitious, achieved many certifications in real estate including, GRI, CRS, CREA, Associate Broker, Broker, and Appraiser. Dot also earned the $1 Million Sales Achievement award from Century 21 and became a member of the Million Dollar Club in the Greater Meadville Board of Realtors. In addition to real estate, she and Roger also ran the Greyhound Bus Station in Meadville. Dot finished her career with Price Real Estate and Century 21 Realty before moving to Albuquerque to be with her daughter. Known for being charitable as well as hard working, Dot felt it was important to give back to the people of the community. She was an active member of professional societies; was President of Zonta and was twice Vice President of the Greater Meadville Board of Realtors. She was also a volunteer for many charities and fund raising events in the city and county. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Taffey Maddox Miller and Ross Miller of Albuquerque, NM and two close family members Alice Gretz of Leechburg, PA and Dolores Hazlett of Natrona Heights, PA.  Dot was very fond of animals, especially her beloved Shih Tzu, Snuggles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society.   1. I am a Zonta member in Meadville and am saddened to hear of her passing. I remember Dot as friendly, helpful and usually smiling. She was a kind and helpful person. My heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.
