Darrell L. (Duke) Deeter, 72, of Franklin, passed away at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 3rd at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.Born on May 16, 1943, Duke was the son of the late Lloyd A. and Ethel V. McChesney Deeter. He graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1963 and then served in the United State Army. On May 13, 1967, Duke married Bonnie Bickel, who survives.He was a long-time employee of Chicago Pneumatic Tool (CPT) and a member of the Fox Street Church of God.He was an avid hunter who especially enjoyed archery hunting and camping with his family. Duke was able to fix anything and was willing to help family, friends, and neighbors whenever in need.Duke is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bickel Deeter; his daughter, Brenda Vilcheck, and her husband, Joe, of Pittsburgh; his daughter, Darla Uhl, and her husband, George, of Franklin; and his three grandchildren: Gwen Uhl of Franklin, and Phoebe & Gabriella Vilcheck of Pittsburgh.He is additionally survived by his sister, Carolyn Davis, and her husband, Jerry, of Franklin; his brother, Randy A. Deeter, and his wife, Randilinn, of Franklin; and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.Duke was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Melinda S. Deeter.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Make a Wish Chapter of Greater Pennsylvania, PO Box 1667, Erie, PA 16507-0667; or to the Fox Street Church of God, 226 Fox Street, Franklin, PA 16323.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin, on Tuesday, April 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Graham Cemetery.To send online condolences, flowers, cards, or for further information, friends and family are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.

  1. Jim and I are sending our condolences to the family.

    Jim grew up across the street on Meadville Pike of the Deeter family. Duke’s family and Jim’s family were friends for many years. Growing up with Duke and sharing a lot of good memories.

    Your will be missed by all. God called you home. Our prayers for you and the family. We won’t be able to come for viewing but wanted you to know we are thinking of you all.
