Daniel Lewis Fritz, 27, of Boone, North Carolina, formerly of Franklin, died on August 17, 2016, at his residence.Daniel was born, in Franklin, on February 14, 1989. He was the son of Dr. William D. and Kelly L. Stewart Fritz. Daniel was a senior at Appalachian State University in North Carolina, where he was studying Environmental Science. Prior to attending ASU, he spent time in Nepal where he taught English. He loved foraging, hiking, snowboarding, scuba diving, riding motorcycles, spending time with friends and family, most especially his niece, Emery. Daniel also enjoyed world traveling, drumming and attending music festivals. He was always positive even in the worst situations. Daniel was described as being kind, sweet, and was known for his smile and contagious laugh.In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by his brother Andrew Fritz, Jessica Rathburn and niece, Emery Fritz of Pittsburgh, PA, his sister Patty Fritz, of Tampa, FL, his step-brother Sean Fritz and nephew, Noah Fritz, of Simsbury, CT, maternal grandparents Lewis Stewart, Sr. and Deborah of New Bethlehem, PA and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Patty Stewart, his paternal grandparents, Carl and Helena Fritz and step-brother, Jeffery Fritz.There will be no public service held for Daniel per the family’s request. An intimate celebration of life was held for family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. Bill and Kelly, I was shocked to hear of Daniel’s passing. I remember rocking him when he was a baby. such a long time ago! The list of places he’d been and things he had done is impressive – he was living his life to the fullest. You have our deepest sympathy. I hope your warm memories will give you some comfort.
