Clyde "Cliff" Clifford Wood Jr., 74, passed away September 25, at The Caring Place in Franklin. He was born in Polk, PA on December 29th, 1941, to Clyde C. and the late Edna L. Jones Wood.On March 7, 1964, Cliff was married to Barbara Belle Latshaw. Barbara preceded him in death on January 24, 2010.Cliff served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. While in the Navy Cliff received a Good Conduct Medal and was a motorboat operator for the "USS Searcher". He enjoyed hunting, poker, water skiing, horseshoes, and pool. Cliff was a roofer by trade, and enjoyed watching the Steelers. He was also notorious for his sweet tooth. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play football, baseball, and softball. He loved his grandchildren dearly. Cliff threw the first perfect game at Miller Sibley Park while in Franklin Little League when he was 12 years old. He was a 1959 Franklin High School graduate.Cliff is survived by his father, Clyde C. Wood, Sr., of Polk; his three sons: Lance Wood, of Polk, PA; Alan Wood, and his wife, Shawnee, of Polk, PA; Clay "Boomer" Wood, and his wife, Shari, of St. Clairsville, OH. His four stepchildren: Kris Gordon, and her husband, Wes, of Utica; Anthony Card, and his wife, Darlene, of Franklin; and Charles Card, of Franklin; his 6 grandchildren: Destiny Asche, and her husband, Aaron, of Harrisonburg, VA; Quincey Wood, of Slippery Rock, PA; Trevor Wood, Tyler Wood, both of Polk, PA; Rileigh Wood, Addison Wood, both of St. Clairsville, OH. He is also survived by his siblings: Bill Wood and his wife, Joanne, of Franklin; Pati Dolecki, of Franklin; Linda Aylesworth, and special friend, Bob Jackson, of Knox, PA; and, Judy Krizon, and her husband, Eddie, of Polk.In addition to his wife, Clyde was preceded in death by his mother, Edna L. Wood; and his step-son, Michael Card.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin, on Wednesday, September 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Funeral Services for Cliff will be held at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., on Thursday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Rusnak, Aseracare Spiritual Coordinator, officiating. Internment will be held at Old Sandy Cemetery in Polk.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The American Diabetes Association, P.O.
