Charles Dallas Bean, 90, of Franklin, passed away on August 30, 2019 at Sugar Creek Station. Born on July 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Joe and Edith (Williams) Bean. He was a 1948 graduate of Franklin High School, but attended the one-room Sugarcreek Independent School from 1st through 8th grade.Dallas met his future wife, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Glenn, while in high school, but the two didn't become a couple until they met up at a square dance in 1952. They were married on February 5, 1954; she survives him.Dallas was a man of the earth and had passion for working on his farm, the Rolling Springs Farm. From an early age, Dallas was working on the farm, milking cows at age six and planting fields with a horse and plow. It was on his farm that he and his wife raised their family and he spent many hours riding his beloved International H tractor. When he wasn't working on his farm, Dallas was also the director of and an avid leader in the Venango County 4-H for over 20 years, the director of the Soil Conservation, a member of the Farm Service Agency, and on the Venango County Fair Board. He and Peggy were also members of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church and have been attendees at the Lupher Chapel United Methodist Church in Franklin.Dallas was also known in the area to be an avid hunter. In his younger years, he shot many trophy whitetail bucks. Some of his fondest memories are the times he spent in the woods hunting with his sons and grandsons.Family was the most important to Dallas and he was often known by his family members for his sayings like, " can't never did nothing" to challenge them to try and do new things. He was a hard worker and continued his work on the farm, health permitting.Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Bean; his two sons, Charles "Charlie" Joe Bean and his wife, Denise, and Theodore Bean and his wife, Diane, both of Franklin; his two daughters, Nancy Smith and her husband, Mark, of Arizona, and Sara Osinski of Hermitage; his nine grandchildren, Matthew Bean, Stephen Bean and his wife, Grace, Heather Bean, Travis Smith and his wife, Ashley, Theodore Bean and his wife, Sarah, Jared Bean, Emma Bean, Donald Osinski and his wife, Jennifer, and Kristin Osinski-Smith and her husband, Taylor; by his four great-grandchildren, Josie, Theodore, Raelynn, and Johnny Dallas Bean; and by his sister-in-law, Phyllis Bean.In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by his grandson, Benjamin Smith; and by his brother, William Bean.Family and friends will be received on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323, from 4 pm to 7 pm and on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 10 am to 11 am.Funeral services for Dallas will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 starting at 11 am, with Rev.
