Carl Raymond Gates

CENTERVILLE - Carl R. Gates, 84, passed away as a result of an automobile accident, on September 17, 2018 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on August 18, 1934 in Tryonville, PA, a son of Clarence and Maysie (Graves) Gates. He married Ella Jean Wood on January 20, 1956, she preceded him in death. He was a member of the Society of Home Organist, and Local Blacksmith Club. He was a very accomplished blacksmith and extremely detailed woodworker that had a love for his farm. He was a machinist at Cytemp and at other Titusville and Meadville Companies. Carl is survived by two sons, Timothy Wayne Gates and his wife, Terri, and Raymond Gates and his wife, Sherry, both of Titusville; a daughter, J. Lorraine Gourley and her husband, Daniel and many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Mark Gates and his wife, Elizabeth (Pratt) Gates and an infant daughter, Laura Deanne Gates. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
