Betty Jane Noel, 90, formerly of Cooperstown, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.Born November 19, 1927 in Rynd Farm, Betty was the daughter of the late Glenn Ivan and Ella Boyles McCool. She was married to James Louis Noel, and he preceded her in death.In her earlier years, Betty worked on the assembly line at General Electric. After her children were born she stayed home to take care of them and raised them in the old hunting camp that she and her husband converted into their home. Betty was a very independent individual. She was a "handyman", and took care of and maintained her home after her husband passed away. She frequently had lists in her "honey do" jar for her sons to take care of when they visited her.Betty also enjoyed gardening, flowers, word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles. She had a passion for crocheting and made tablecloths, doilies, and blankets for all her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her son, Robert Noel and his wife, Mookkarin, of Erie; her daughter-in-law, Olga Noel of Marietta, GA; her grandchildren, Michelle Kormos and her husband, Dan, of Girard, Brian Noel and his wife, Rachel, of Union City, Laura Morrissey and her husband, Dan, of Erie, and Michael Monroe of CA; and her great-grandchildren, Andrew Kormas, Patrick Kormas, SkylarMorrissey, James Morrisey, Hunter Noel, and Mia Noel.Betty is also survived by her brothers, Clarence McCool and his wife, Lois, of Cooperstown, Bud McCool of Cooperstown, and George McCool and his wife, Judy, of Erie; and his sister, Violet Shingledecker of Franklin.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Noel.Family and friends of Betty will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services for Betty will be held at the Mount Carmel Tabernacle, 128 Wallaceville Road/State Route 428 in Dempseytown on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10:00 am with Reverend Dana Lewis, pastor of the church, officiating.Interment will be in Troy Center Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Mount Carmel Tabernacle, 128 Wallaceville Road, Titusville, PA 16354.Friends and family are invited to www.gardinierfuneralhome.com to send cards, flowers and online condolences.
