It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce the passing of Barbara L. Wright Miller Curtis, who left this world on July 16, 2025, at her home in Union City, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on August 6, 1932, in Titusville, PA, Barbara lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
Barbara was a true homemaker, dedicating her life to her family while also sharing her warm spirit with others. She was married to the love of her life, James Francis Curtis, on December 11, 1976, and together they enjoyed the blessings of family until his passing on July 11, 2021.
She attended Titusville Area Schools, Barbara began her career working at Lil’s Grocery and spent twenty-five joyous summers at Steffe’s Tasty Freeze. She was also a devoted member of the Enterprise Bible Church, where she didn’t just attend services but brought her community together, teaching Sunday School and engaging with the church women’s group.
Barbara had a heart of gold and was known for her significant contributions to the community as a long-time member of the Titusville YMCA and Linvan Lanes Bowling League. Her commitment to giving back was exemplified through her dedication to the Red Cross, where her many blood donations earned her heartfelt recognition. If you ever caught her on a sunny day, you would likely see her strolling from the YMCA to Drake Well Park with friends, ending the outing with a coffee and lively conversation at Get-Go. Those walks turned into cherished memories, filled with joy and laughter.
Barbara leaves behind her beloved daughter Kandy K. Carter (Mike) of Union City, and her sons Thomas Miller (Joyce) of Loraine, Ohio, and daughter-in-law Irene Miller of Galena, Ohio. She was also a proud grandmother to Thomas and Tanner McCall of Union City, Michael McCall of Mantua, Ohio, Andrew Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Daniel Miller of Sacramento, California, Jessica Mitchell (Jason) of Westerville, Ohio, and James W. Miller, III of Galena, Ohio. Her two great-grandsons, Phoenix McCall and Graham Miller, a sister in law, Jane Leone of Erie and a brother in law, Lawrence Curtis (Linda) of Erie.
Barbara is now reunited with her parents, James and Alice Wright; her first husband, James William Miller, Sr.; her son, James W. Miller, Jr.; and siblings Merle, Robert, Theodore Wright, and Lucille Ellsworth.

To Kandy and family, your Mom was a very special lady who loved everyone. I’ll always remember she had a smile every time I seen her. Thank you for taking such good care of her all these years. She has a special daughter. We all know she is in Gods hands now. Probably making the best twist ice cream cones around.
Our moms are back together again having a great time walking up a storm, having lots of laughs too. Peace be with you and your family in your time of grief.
