Albert Lewis O'Neil, 80, of Franklin, passed away at his residence, on Friday, October 23rd.Born January 1, 1935 in Franklin, Albert was the son of the late Horace and Elizabeth Butts O'Neil. He married Phyllis Sharrer on January 2, 1953, and she preceded him in death.Albert attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church. He enjoyed working on vehicles, attending steam engine shows, and collecting antique guns. He had a love of music and played the fiddle and harmonica. Albert especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his closest companion, his dog, "Buddy Wumpsker Doodle."Mr. O'Neil is survived by his son, Stephen O'Neil and his wife, Deloris, of Dallas, Texas; and his three daughters, Margaret O'Neil of Cochranton, Karen Miller and her husband, Huck, of Polk, and Nancy Preston and her husband, Randy, also of Polk. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Dan Miller, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, Stepheni L. Murdock and her husband, Doug, Jenifer L. Kreneck and her husband, Greg, Joshua J. Preston and his wife, Danielle, Jacob J. Preston and his girlfriend, Amber, Amanda L. Dechant and her husband, Aaron, Serene Tobin and her husband, Tim, and Matthew O'Neil; his 9 great-grandchildren, Eileen, Clarice and Josiah Miller, Lexus, Elizabeth, and Emily Dechant, Zachary Murdoch, and Nicholas and Alexa Kreneck; and his 2 great-great-grandchildren who are expected very soon.Mr. O'Neil is additionally survived by his 3 sisters-in-law, Adeline O'Neil, Zeetah Hoover, and Roxie Casale; his long-time companion, Vivian Tarr; and his special care-giver, Lisa McGinnis, who took care of him for the past year.In addition to his parents and wife, Albert was preceded in death by his grandson, Cody Wentworth; his brothers, Frank, Carl, Virgil and Jack O'Neil; and his sister, Helen Farrell.Family and friends of Albert will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, October 27th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 28th at 11 a.m., with Rev. Paul Baker, pastor of the Franklin Pilgrim Holiness Church, officiating. What a “special” man he was,to everyone he came across.I know that he meant a great deal to my husband and he is going to miss him tremendously.I remember him stopping by the house and the stories he would tell and the day he was here and we were trying to place winning bid on backhoe-oh my goodness-we 3 had a good time that day.You guys were truly blessed w a wonderful man.Prayers and love go out to all of you.

I was so sorry to hear about Alberts death. He was a wonderful friend to my father, Charles Kline, and also to me. He was a very special man. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time..
