It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Metzler, age 83, who left us on November 2, 2026, at his home in Saegertown, surrounded by the love of his family.
Gary was born on September 26, 1943, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, to Merle and Rosaland Metzler. He graduated from Greenville High School and kicked off a long and fulfilling career as a grinder specialist at Greenleaf, where he dedicated over 40 years before retiring in 2006.
On October 16, 1967, he married the love of his life, Ruth E. Geiger, who unfortunately passed away on September 24, 2020. Gary was not just a devoted husband; he was also a proud father, leaving behind his beloved daughter, Julie Metzler of Erie, and two sons, Kirk and Edward Metzler, both from Saegertown. He is also survived by his two sisters, Becky Saylor from Ohio and Peggy Metzler-Immen, along with her husband Don, from Michigan.
Gary had a zest for life and loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. A football enthusiast and a NASCAR fan, he had a passion for cheering on his favorite teams. He was a valued member of the Elks Club, Eagles Club, West Mead #2, and the Saegertown American Legion, where he made lasting friendships over the years.
Gary will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he shared with everyone around him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and share their cherished memories of him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a memorial donation to the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, located at 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335 or Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty Street, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335, in memory of Gary.
Though he will be deeply missed, Gary’s spirit will live on in the stories and hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Please take a moment to share a memory or condolence with the family on Gary’s Book of Memories online at www.WarrenFH.com. Arrangements are in the care of Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
