John M. Yost

In Loving Memory of John Matthew Yost.

After a life well lived, John affectionately know as

“Dilly Dally” age 84 of Union City, PA passed away peacefully at Edinboro Manor on September 29, 2026.

John was born of August 5, 1942 to the late Zelda and Lee Yost. He was the youngest of thirteen children and spent his childhood in Wattsburg, PA. Surviving are his two brothers, Buzzy and Larry Yost and sister, Glinda Young.

John’s first love was driving! Whether it was a tractor, car, truck or semi, he was happiest behind the wheel. He began his working life delivering milk before moving on to the gas industry. On March 20, 1989, John began working for United Refinery, where he drove a gas truck until his retirement in January 2004.

John married Yvonne Drake on July 16, 1977

He was the proud father of four sons: John and Jeffery Yost, and Tracy and Todd Soety. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In his younger days, a honky-tonk was never passed, a cold one never refused, and a good joke was always shared. He had a great sense of humor and knew how to make everyone around him laugh.

More then anything, John was a kind, giving, and generous man who was always willing to lend a hand. He attended church and was a man of God, holding strong to his faith throughout his life. John leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter and love. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

In accordance with John’s wishes, there will be no services.
