John Joseph Elwell

John Joseph Elwell, age 59, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 6, 2026. He was born on October 12, 1966, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and JoAnn Elwell.

John proudly served in the United States Army, embodying a spirit of dedication and service.

A devoted caregiver, John lent his compassionate heart to his work at Supports, Inc., where he profoundly impacted the lives of those he served. He was a passionate individual, an outstanding father, and the absolute love of his wife’s, Vicki’s, life, who enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including fishing, exploring culinary delights, and engaging in various sports such as darts, cornhole, ping-pong, and biking. John cherished moments spent playing classic arcade games like Ms. Pac-Man, and he had a particular fondness for solving Rubik’s Cubes. Known for his punctuality and generous nature, John would go out of his way to bring joy to others, often being described as a sentimental soul who would give his shirt off his back to anyone in need.

John is survived by his beloved mother, JoAnn Elwell; his loving wife, Vicki Zaczyk; and his two children: Kaitlyn Elwell (E.J. McGreevy III) of Cumberland, Maryland, and Jamie Elwell of Mooresville, North Carolina. He is also survived by his two stepchildren, Alisha Clement (Joe) of Iowa and Steven Zaczyk (Karen) of Maryland; four grandchildren, Leona, Harvey, Evie, and Isla; and two brothers, Robert Elwell of Florida and Richard Elwell (Amy) of Meadville. Additionally, he leaves behind three sisters, Joann Rebbin (Chris) of Florida, Debra Hayen (Loren) of Kentucky, and Diane Branhan (Brad) of Kentucky.

John was preceded in death by his father and his infant brother, Joseph.

Friends and family are welcome to call on Thursday, August 13 from 4pm – 7pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. A memorial service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Toney Wofford, officiating.
