Leonard “Lenny” A. Plyler, 76, of Franklin passed away on June 4, 2026 after an extended illness with family at his side.
Born on December 18, 1949 in Clarion County, PA, he was the son of the late Carl and Della (Smith) Plyler and was the youngest of four children.
Leonard was a hard worker and kept his hands and mind busy. For many years, he was a machinist for Chicago Pneumatic Tool, Abrill Industries, and eventually retired from Venango Machine.
On June 1, 1974, he married the love of his life, the former Darlene Kean, and she survives.
Leonard was a simple man who enjoyed life through hard work and family. He was proud that he extensively remodeled his childhood home. He had a passion for 1960’s and 1970’s classic vehicles and boasted about his Rambler and Nova which he owned in his youth. His passion for the classics didn’t end there. He often could be found working on his own vehicles or those of his childhood friends and co-workers.
In his younger years, Leonard could be found at the motocross track racing dirt bikes. He also enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football fan. As a baseball fan, he not only watched the big league games on TV but he was also a coach for Franklin’s Minor and Little Leagues. He was also a Scout leader and most importantly, never missed an extra curricular or sporting event of his children.
Left to cherish his memory along with his wife of 52 years, Darlene, are his children, Shannon Plyler of Cranberry Twp, PA and Bart Plyler of Pittsburgh, PA; and his greatest joy, his grandson, Braden Plyler of Cranberry Twp, PA. He is also survied by his sisters Gloria Crider of Tuscon, AZ, Donna Lundy of Loris, SC, Sister-in-law, Fran Plyler of Tabernacle, NJ and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.Â
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Alan Plyler.
