Born in: Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Union City, Pennsylvania

Ronald T. Hopson, a beloved member of the Union City community, will be remembered fondly after passing away on March 19, 2026, at LECOM at Village Square. Born on September 22, 1937, in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, Ron was the son of Fred and Martha Humes Hopson.

He married his sweetheart, Shirley Hasbrouck, on October 14, 1961, and together they built a loving family that Ron cherished deeply. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a draftsman at Zurn Energy in Erie, where his attention to detail and creativity shone through in his work. In addition to his professional successes, Ron proudly served his country in the US Army.

A genuinely social guy, Ron was an active member of the Moose Club, the Freemasons, and the American Legion, where he formed many lifelong friendships. His passion for the outdoors was evident through his love of hunting and fishing, and he savored the time spent doing handyman projects around the house and community.

Ron also took pride in giving back to the community, coaching softball at Seneca High School and Mercyhurst Prep, where he inspired many young athletes. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Shirley Hopson, and his three children: daughter Cheryl (Alan) Hamilton of Union City, son Mark Hopson (fiancé Mary Shaffer) of Wattsburg, and son Scott (Amy) Hopson of Union City. Ron will be missed by his grandchildren, Kayla Majchrzak (Greg), Courtney Sheehan (Ty), Garrett Shaffer, Casey Shaffer, Matthew Hamilton, Julia Hamilton, Makenzie Hopson, and Alex Hopson, as well as his great-grandchildren, Cohen, Beau, Grady, Alexa, Allison, Bryson, Bennett, Micah, and Easton.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Fred and Martha Hopson; and a granddaughter, Alicia Stalheim.

A private burial and graveside service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.
