Richard J. Ankenbauer

Richard J. Ankenbauer, aged 84, of Union City, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on February 26, 2026. Born on Halloween in 1941 in Niagara Falls, New York, Richard was the son of Harold D. Ankenbauer and Eileen Tuttle Ankenbauer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a skilled auto body technician at Lake Shore Auto Body for many years.

Richard married the love of his life, Bonnie Wyant, on September 11, 1970. Together, they built a family and shared a life filled with laughter and love. He will be sorely missed by his wife Bonnie, a daughter, Natalie Lee of Clearwater, Florida; four sons, Rick Ankenbauer (Melissa) of Clearwater, Florida; Greg Ankenbauer of Clearwater, Florida; Mark Ankenbauer (Jessica) of Canadohta Lake; and Samuel Ankenbauer of Canadohta Lake. He was also a proud grandfather to Lainey, Randy, and Rick Ankenbauer, Jr., as well as Danielle and Devon Lee, many great grandchildren; and his close friend Ed Jaworek (Tina) of Erie.

Richard had a passion for the great outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. In his retirement, he took immense pride in caring for his beautiful yard. He was also a former member of the Union City Moose Club and the VFW in Union City and Wesleyville.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Ryan Ankenbauer, his brother Harold Ankenbauer, and a nephew, Dale Ankenbauer.

There will be no services held at this time.
