So sorry for your loss
Robert Lee “Bob” Whitten, 94, passed away on January 25, 2026 with his family by his side.
Born on February 3, 1931 in Franklin, he was the beloved son of the late Walter B. “Jack” Whitten and Esther B. Gulnac Whitten.
Bob graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1948. After graduation, he attended Michigan Technical Institute, School of Electricity in Detroit, Michigan graduating in May 31, 1949.
On July 13, 1950 he married the former Carol Jean Latchaw and she preceded him in death on January 2, 2008.
Bob worked for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. (CPT) for 22 years, then he went to work for Hughson Chemical Co,. in Saegertown, Pa for 5 years and Franklin Steel for 15 years where he retired.
Bob was a member of the Fox Street Church of God where he served as an usher for many years.
He had many talents and would always lend a hand to family and friends when asked for help on all types of projects. An electrician by trade, if he was asked to do plumbing or work on a car motor, or help build something, he would gladly do it but he would say “I’m not a plumber, I’m not a mechanic or I’m not a carpenter”, but he was a perfectionist in everything he did.
In his early years he enjoyed deer hunting, loved to water ski on the Clarion River, played a little golf, and bowled on a mixed league for several years. While he was still able, Bob loved to play his many guitars and he especially loved singing and playing for the Lord.
Bob is survived by his 2 daughters, Lynn Pyle of Franklin, Sharon Norris and her husband, Dale, of Franklin; his grandkids Rob Lynn of Franklin and Dave Lynn (Ashleigh Morrow) of Polk, Holly Dayton and her husband, Dan, of Franklin; his great grandkids Zak Lynn and his wife Rachel of Clarion, Brinley, Beckett, and Harper Dayton of Franklin; and his step great grandkids Dalton Boyles and Stephanie Boyles; his great great grandkids Parker and Patrick; and his step great great grandkids Kinley, Levi, and Alaina.
Preceding him in death along with his parents and wife are an infant granddaughter Kerry Sue Lynn, son-in-law Randy Pyle, and step granddaughters Cheryl Pyle and Dawn Pyle Boyles.
As per Bob’s wishes, no public services will be observed and funeral arrangements are under the care of the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
A special “Thank You” goes to the caring and wonderful staff of Aseracare Hospice.
