Doris "Dotty" A. Reese

Doris “Dotty” A. Reese, 76, of Franklin passed away on December 27, 2025 at UPMC Northwest.

Born on January 10 1949 in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late William Paul and Doris Maude (Snyder) Haylett.

She was a graduate of Franklin High School. She then went on to work at Franklin Hospital as a Central Service Technician where she met the love of her life, Todd Reese. They married on September 26, 1986 and were married almost 35 years until his passing on January 26, 2021. She and Todd moved to Maryland shortly after they were married where she worked  for 18 years as a civil service secretary for the Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, before retiring and moving back to Franklin, PA.

Dotty was well known in the area for her kind heart. She enjoyed crafting and sewing which she often gave out as gifts of appreciation and loved making cloth baby books for the newest additions to the family. She was passionate about being a member of the VFW Auxiliary of the Jesse G. Greer Post 1835, Franklin, Pa and a supporter of the Venango County Humane Society.

She was a social butterfly at heart and enjoyed the company of family and friends. Family reunions and get-togethers were her favorite activity to catch up on lost time with family. She will be missed by those she touched with her kindness but mostly, she will be missed by her cat, Little One, who truly adored her.

Left to cherish her memories are her sisters-in-law Bobbie Melat of Seneca and Betsy Robinette and her husband, Brad, of Billings, MT; her aunt Virginia Haylett of Franklin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. A special thank you goes out to her niece Kimberly Black of Kennerdell and her nephew Kory Melat of Oil City for her wonderful care in her time of need.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Willie Pauline Haylett.

Guests are invited to Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, January 2nd from 1:00 pm until the start of the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Pastor David McVay officiating.

Dotty will be laid to rest next to her husband in Millcreek Cemetery, Utica, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dotty’s name to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 South Main Street, Seneca, PA 16346 or to the VFW Auxiliary, Jesse G. Greer Post 1835, 411 9th Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
