Ruth E. Preston, of Titusville, PA, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on October 22, 1926, in Troy Center, PA, she was the daughter of Howard and Mary Bunce. Ruth lived a life rich with love, family, and community, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Ruth’s remarkable journey began when she graduated from Titusville High School. She married Robert Conaway on July 12, 1947, embracing the joys and challenges of family life until his passing on November 25, 1978. Ruth found love again and married Theodore J. Preston on November 24, 1997, sharing many cherished moments by his side.
A dedicated professional, Ruth worked as a manager at G.C. Murphy in Titusville, where her organizational skills and warm demeanor made her a beloved figure among her customers and colleagues. After her time at Murphy’s, she found joy in babysitting, helping raise the next generation with her caring spirit.
Ruth was an active member of the Troy Center Methodist Church and the Troy Center Ladies Aid Society, reflecting her devotion to both faith and community service. Her love for cooking, baking, and embroidery filled her home with warmth, and she savored every moment spent working on jigsaw puzzles or playing bingo. Later in life, she discovered a passion for travel, gardening, and canning, as well as a lasting love for country music that made any gathering feel like a celebration.
Ruth was the proud mother of four daughters-Linda Conaway of Saegertown, Mary Schroeder (George) of Conneaut Lake, Patty Smith (Don) of Cambridge Springs, and Brenda Bogda (Curtis) of Cambridge Springs-and a son, Neil Conaway (Terry) of Erie. Her legacy continues through her thirteen grandchildren, Stacey, Jessica (Todd), Jennifer (Jeff), Brent (Lorretta), Steven (Caroline), Emily, Brandie (Jeff), Justin (Jennifer), Corey (Valerie), Melissa (Brian), Christopher (Jessica), Kelly, and Tiffany (Andy); thirty great-grandchildren, Amy, Samantha, Beth, Ellie, Matthew, Livi, Annabelle, Luke, Rosemary, Juliette, Kaden, Morgan, Evelyn, Elias, Aubrey, Theo, Benjamin, Ava, Liam, Oliver, Alexander, Liza, Bella, JonRussell, Jack, Jude, Julianne, Micah, Lilly, and Briana; seven great great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Teddy Lynn Dibble; a step-daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Preston; a step-grandson, Joey Dibble; a sister-in-law, Joanne Bunce; a brother-in-law, Ed Wheeling; and many nieces and nephews.Ruth joins her beloved daughter, Cathy Roché (Jon); her first husband, Robert; four sisters, Dorothy Eddy (Clifford), Betty Colgan (Jack), Phyllis Humes (Richard), and Doris Wheeling; a brother, Nelson Bunce; and two step-sons, Glenn and Dale Preston, in eternal rest.
Ruth’s family invites all who knew and loved her to honor her memory during calling hours on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main Street, Townville. A funeral will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Jim Tubbs, officiating.
