John Wesley Doutt (known by all as Wes), 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Corry Manor in Corry, PA.
He was born on September 18, 1936, to Harold and Maybelle (Lafferty) Doutt and raised on the family farm in Bloomfield Twp, PA, before moving to Union City, PA, in the 1960s to raise his own family.
Wes graduated from Union City Area High School in 1954 and joined the United States Army in 1956. He was a member of the Army Signal Corps, and was stationed in Sacramento, CA, for the majority of his enlistment before his honorable discharge in 1959.
His training in the armed forces led him to a career as an electrician. Upon returning home from the Army he worked for Erie Strayer Company until 1969 when he became a small business owner and opened Doutt’s Electric in Union City where he sold and repaired TVs and appliances becoming one of the most reputable repair men in the area. Because he loved what it did he went back to school and became a Master Electrician, and was soon in high demand as an electrician for projects throughout western PA, retiring at 80 years old.
Wes was known throughout Union City as a man who loved his community. He was a Lion’s Club member and served a year as King Lion and also a member of the Moose Lodge. He was a well-respected baseball and softball coach with the Union City Little League program and in his later years enjoyed going to the Union City Senior Center. He enjoyed fishing and gardening when he found the time but enjoyed his time with his family most of all. Whenever he was asked, “What do you want for your birthday,” he would respond, “Hugs and kisses from my girls.”
Wes was a man of faith and was currently attending Harvest Community Church in Corry.
Wes is survived by his beloved daughters Lisa of Lewisburg, PA, Lori (Mark Kafferlin) of Waterford, PA, and Leslie (Roger Wade) of Union City, PA; as well as his most loved and cherished grandchildren Janelle Thompson (Jacob Hyde), Coltin Warner, Devan Wade, and Kendyl Wade. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Darrell Alan and an infant daughter; his brothers Charles Stanley, Harold Edward and an infant brother; and sisters Shirley Bobbins, Jean Rae Wilkins, and Marilyn Bell.
The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the staff at Corry Manor for their care this past year with a special thanks to Jodee Montague for her love and friendship.
Arrangements are by the Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc of Union City. A celebration of life will be held in Union City, PA, at a later date determined by the family with interment at Loomis Cemetery in Bloomfield Township, PA.
