Richard N. Jones, 93, of Franklin passed away on December 15, 2025 at Oakwood Heights Village Nursing and Rehab Center in Oil City.

Born in New Castle, PA on June 4, 1932, he was the son of the late J. Roy and Anna (Shay) Jones.

Richard proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Briareus during the Korean War. He then enlisted in the US Air Force where he was a jet engine mechanic until the war ended. As a proud veteran, he was a member of the Veterans Administration and helped wherever he was needed.  After he was discharged, he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

He was employed for many years at the St. Elizabeth Hospital now known as Mercy Health Center in Ohio. He was very well known for his carpentry skills. Richard could fix just about anything and loved music, especially classic orchestras and pianist Beegie Adair.

He is survived by his brother Ronald C. Jones, his brother-in-law Charles Shoaff, his nieces and nephews Renee Cornmesser and her husband Kent, with whom he made his home for several years;  Robin Kwiatkowksi and her husband Rudy; Rhonda Giesel and her husband, Richard; Nancy Ragozcino; Bob Woodworth and his wife Bambi;  Scott Jones and his wife Terri; and Jennifer Robson and her husband, Chad and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Samuel Jones, Virginia Woodworth and Becky Shoaff; his brother-in-law Don Woodworth; his sister-in-law Pat Jones; a special niece Lindy Woodworth; and a nephew Don Woodworth, Jr.

Guests will be received at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Thursday, December 18th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held immediately following at the funeral home at 12:00 pm with Pastor Melody Murray officiating.  Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard at the funeral home.

Richard will be laid to rest with his family in Findley Cemetery, Mercer, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard’s memory to the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard, PO Box 137, Franklin, PA  16323.
