Daniel Timothy Thomas

July 7, 1941 ~ November 12, 2025

Born in: Union City, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Union City, Pennsylvania

Daniel Timothy Thomas, 84, of Union City, left us on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 7, 1941, in Union City, he was the son of Foster L. Thomas and Laura Helen Daszynicz.

Dan was married to Michele A. Adams on November 21, 1987, creating a beautiful partnership that was cherished by many. He proudly graduated from Union City High School in 1959, where he was active in the Future Farmers of America. For an impressive 46 years, he worked as the Head Sawyer at Tru-Temper, earning respect and admiration for his commitment and skill.

An active member of the Bible Baptist Church in Titusville, Dan loved both God and his church family, building connections that lasted a lifetime. He was a die-hard Cleveland Guardians fan and had a knack for raising sheep and goats since he was 17. His garden was a testament to his green thumb, with award-winning onions and an abundance of blueberries that he took joy in cultivating. Hunting and fishing brought him peace and happiness, but nothing compared to the time he spent with his family and grandchildren, which he treasured above all.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Michele, and his stepdaughters Amy Smith of Akron, Pennsylvania, and Kim McClelland (Steve) of Centerville, along with stepsons Timothy Adams (Laura) of Portland, Oregon, and Daniel Mohnkern (Jessica) of Titusville. He was a proud grandfather to Emily, Dylan, Nathaniel, Liam, Jeremiah (Lindsey), David, Iain, Eliana, and Ivy, and a great-grandfather to Dove. He is also survived by three sisters-Laura Hanes (Ernie), Lorna Miller (Bill), and Lois Sherman-and three brothers-Dennis Thomas, Foster Thomas Jr., and Phillip Thomas (Raquel), along with many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, November 20th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., located at 62 S. Main Street in Union City. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Doug Cole officiating.

He will be laid to rest at West Union Cemetery, Union City.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dear Michele,
I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of your beloved Daniel – your lifelong partner, your confidant, your hearts, compassion. There are no words that can truly ease the pain of such a profound loss, but please know that I am holding you close in my heart and my thoughts.
    Love, Jackie Bates

  2. We will remember our Grandfather always as a loving, peaceful, calming presence. He was a strong, stoic, and ever God-loving man. Some of the most peaceful memories we have of our childhood are the times we spent on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa, with some of the most magical being when Grandpa taught us to fish at cousin camp or letting us bottle feed the baby lambs. We love you Grandpa Dan!

  3. Dad is one of the best men I’ll ever know. Not because that’s what any son would say, but because he proved himself to be through hard times.
As one of four children whose childhood was ravaged by a broken home, ending in divorce, and having been one of two sons who became the”men of the house” from the age of 4 through the age of 12, Dan Thomas stepped into a household of 4 teenagers. Having never been married before, and with 47 years of being single under his belt, I can not come close to imagining the level of commitment it meant to him. It was not an easy first decade by any means. The teen years are often trying even for “blood parents” let alone a man becoming the man of the house over teenagers who had become quite independent and were mostly ungrateful for the added authority stepping on the toes.
Through some extremely trying times mixed with gold nuggets, this man taught me how to love. This man taught me how to live up to ones vows against all odds, and wholly live the word “commitment.”
Heaven gained a great man this week; a meek and gentle, quiet giant of a man.
I envy him for seeing our Lord first, but I have solace in knowing I’ll be next to him in three shakes of a lambs tail.
Thank you, Dan Thomas, for coming into our family, and becoming my dad. See you soon.

  4. Both Lindsey and I will miss grandpa greatly. He was a man of few words but a very loving and strong grandpa. Im so very happy he got to meet our little girl Dove and hold her. Seeing the smile light his face and the joy shine from him as he held his first great granddaughter is something I will always remeber and cherish.
I will miss his presence at our family gatherings and his stories he would tell! I loved how he would play with his dentures in his mouth from time to time just to get a reaction! And how he would always watch our family being goofy and have a fond look on his face knowing that our family was having fun.
I’ll miss you grandpa and will remeber you and the wonderful example you set for us. Ill strive to love my wife just as much as you loved grandma! I can’t wait to see you again in heaven and we can share so many stories about our lives and worship our Lord and Savior together! See you soon Grandpa
