Jane Marie Sandieson of Franklin passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was 73.
Jane was born on February 1st, 1952, in Titusville, PA, the fifth child of the late John W. and Ellen Sterner.
Jane was a 1970 graduate of Franklin High School. She worked for the Department of Public Welfare and Polk Center, from which she retired after 35 years of state service.
On June 23, 1973, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Robert F. Sandieson, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. He survives. Together they had three sons.
Jane was a warm and welcoming person who enjoyed hosting family gatherings. A loving mother and grandmother, she especially cherished time spent with her six granddaughters, and her numerous nieces and nephews. An animal lover, there was a special place in her heart for her dogs and granddogs. Her home was always beautifully decorated with the antiques she enjoyed collecting on trips with her friends. She was also an avid gardener and took pride in making her home a beautiful place for family and friends.
Jane had a wonderful lust for life and many interests. A lifelong resident of Franklin, she looked forward to participating in community events such as Applefest every year. She was also an avid reader, making many trips to the library. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends.
She attended the Franklin Church of the Nazarene.
Left to cherish her memory along with her husband, Bob, are their three sons, Bryan Sandieson and his wife, Aimee, of Franklin, Kevin Sandieson and his wife Katie of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Christopher Sandieson of Franklin. She also leaves behind her granddaughters Kayla, Kinsley, Kendyl, Sydney, Kennedy, and Taylor; and her siblings, Lois Uhl and her husband, Randy, of Franklin, Christine Nash of Pittsburgh, and Sue Harrison and her husband, Dean, of Oklahoma; She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Richard Sandieson (Lynn) of Meadville and Steve Perrett of Pleasantville, and sisters-in-law Debra Smith (Richard) of Seneca and Karen Stanton (Tim) of Mercersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Barb Sterner and John Sterner, and mother and father in-laws Fay and Lewis Sandieson.
A Celebration of Jane’s life will be held on November 22nd, 11:00 am at the Franklin Church of the Nazarene, 393 Pone Lane, Franklin with Pastor David Smith officiating, followed by a celebration dinner next door at the Morford Hall. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
Jane will be laid to rest in Graham Cemetery, Franklin.
