It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Misty Marie (Ward) Ketcham, age 38, and her unborn baby boy on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Lexington Hospital near her home in Batesburg, SC.

Misty was born June 23, 1987 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. She was the daughter of Richard and Carolyn Ward from Dempseytown.

She graduated from Oil City Senior High School in 2006. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her entire life. Misty was an animal lover and very family oriented. She was known for raising and loving her babies which were pigs, chickens, goats, cats, and dogs on her hobby farm. She enjoyed Anime and action movies like the Fast and the Furious. She loved all things dinosaurs, diamond art, bunco, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Land Before Time, and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes for her family and friends.

Misty faced a lot of health problems through her entire life but was always strong and had a smile on her face. She doted on her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She would go to Iceland, Texas, Utah, etc. to visit her family often as she could. Misty was fun, outgoing, and a wonderful wife to her husband, Jared, who loved her very much. She was his world. They married in 2017 and moved to South Carolina shortly after 2020.

Most of all, Misty’s biggest desire was to be a mother and was looking forward to her new baby boy. They still hadn’t chosen a name for him.

She has 4 older brothers: Tracy (Kelli) Ward of Dempseytown, PA, Daniel Ward of Mertzon, Texas, Courtney (Moly) of Dallas, Oregon, and Isaac (Christina) Ward of Rouseville, PA. She had several nieces and nephews: Xander, Jacob, LuLu, Abby, and Kloe (Daniel); Angie, Isabella, Megan and predeceased, Elizabeth (Courtney); Jaymee, Lyndsey, Olivia, Noah, predeceased Gabriel (Isaac). 1. I miss you Misty. All of the fun we had on bandfront and graduating together. I was so excited for your family and looked forward to seeing all the piglets pictures each year. I know you are watching over us with your little boy. RIP sweet angel.

  2. To the Family of Misty Marie Ketchum: We had the pleasure of caring for Misty in Charleston, South Carolina starting in 2020 until our last visit about a month ago. With deepest sympathy, Dr. David Gregg, Rochelle Judd, FNP and Nurse Navigator Karen Fries, as well as the countless other Care Team Members that knew Misty.
