Born in: Van, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Saegertown, Pennsylvania

Delores “Dee” J. (Erwin) Sloop, 96, gracefully began her heavenly journey with Jesus August 2, 2025. Born September 17, 1928 at home in Van, Delores was the daughter of the late Samuel Oran and Grace (Standley) Erwin. She spent several years in Venango County, where she married her first husband, the late Albert L Farren, and raised her son and two daughters. Delores was a member of the former Hill City Methodist Church, giving of her time and home for the church and the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She later joined Cavalry Temple Church in Oil City with her second husband, the late Walter L Clark, where she deeply enjoyed fellowship with members of the congregation. After Walter’s passing, Delores accompanied her friend, Janet, to look at a horse farm in North Carolina. It was there that Delores met her third husband, the late H. Monroe Sloop, Jr of Hamptonville, NC.
Delores was a faithful servant of the Lord and held unwavering faith. Outside of her work in the hospitality industry, she volunteered with March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society. A child of the Great Depression, Delores combined her Christian faith to perpetuate humility throughout her lifetime. She thoughtfully balanced wise discernment with compassionate forgiveness. Through numerous losses, Delores maintained graceful strength. She was very fond of God’s beautiful creatures, often commenting on his precious birds. Her chihuahua, Bella, gave her great joy and they held a special bond – often sharing meals together, especially scrambled eggs and toast.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Mr and Mrs. Samuel O. Erwin; three husbands; daughters – Melodie (Farren) Smith and Cindy (Farren) Reese; four brothers – Donald, Harold, Derwood, and Glen Erwin; three son-in-laws – Richard Flick, Floyd Smith, and Thomas Reese, Sr; a daughter-in-law – Madeline (Echenoz) Farren; a grandson – Eric Farren; and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son Timothy M. Farren, of Marienville; a brother – Stanley “Bud” Erwin of Oil City; three grandsons – John Farren of Marienville, Tim (Jennifer) M. Farren Jr of Rapid City, South Dakota; Jeffrey A.T. Farren and his fiancé Jennifer DeLucia of Franklin; a granddaughter – Melissa (Flick) Albaugh and her husband Darrell Daugherty of Florissant, Colorado; twelve great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and her chihuahua, Bella.
