Ernest “Ernie” William Vanderhoof, 86, of Spartansburg, PA, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at Corry Manor. Born on January 7, 1939, in Cobbs Corners, PA, Ernie lived a life full of love and adventure. He was the son of Charlie Vanderhoof and Ella Pratt Vanderhoof, and he cherished his family above all else.
Ernie married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Jazenski Vanderhoof, on July 10, 1965. Sadly, Sandy passed away on September 5, 2022, leaving a void in Ernie’s heart that was never filled. Together, they built a beautiful family, and Ernie was a proud father to his daughters, Chris Coffee of Meadville and Cathy Cox of Corry. He also leaves behind a brother, Gail Vanderhoof, and his wife Monica of Corry, along with grandchildren Christopher Cox, Kyla Cox, Joe Coffee, and Emily Coffee, as well as great-grandchildren Cameron Cox, Landon Walizer, Levi Cox, and Gabe Cox.
Ernie proudly served as a Tank Gunner in the U.S. Army, and after his service, he found his calling as a mechanic, working in the maintenance department at VIP Machine. Known for his incredible handy skills, he was a true jack of all trades, able to fix just about anything, from electrical work to plumbing and construction. In his spare time, Ernie found joy in hunting, fishing, and reading.In addition to his wife, Sandy: he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Vanderhoof, and two sisters, Julia Duncan and Sandra Kline.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate Ernie’s life during a visitation at the Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City on Thursday, September 11th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
