Russell Lavern Smith, Sr. , 78, of Townville passed away in his home on July 9, 2025.

Born in Titusville on March 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Gerald and Margaret (Consula) Smith.

Russel enjoyed tinkering with anything he could tear apart or put back together, even if it wasn’t broken. Cars were his favorite to work on. When he could, he loved to go fishing especially with his son, Rusty. He was a private man who loved a good cold beer and his cigarettes. His passion was trying to keep the cats in the area well cared for. He was highly intrigued with aliens and UFO’s and would watch any show that involved that discussion.

He leaves behind his children Tina Askins and her husband, Lou, of Titusville, Barbara Baker of Clarion, and Phillip Smith of Titusville and has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings Sheila Humes of Townville, Gloria Rodgers of New Castle, and Kenneth and Gary Smith, both of Townville and many nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Russell Smith, Jr., and his siblings Gerald Smith, Jr. and Elaine Dobbs.

No public services will be observed at this time.
