It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James F. Strobel, who left us peacefully at the age of 81 on June 27, 2025. Born on November 17, 1943, in Erie, PA, Jim spent his early years before settling in Union City, PA, where he lived a full life filled with love, laughter, and a passion for the outdoors.
Jim was a dedicated worker at the Girard Cemetery and also was employed at a local tannery, where he spent many years contributing to his community. Known for his love of John Deere tractors, fishing, antique cars, and a good book, he was happiest when surrounded by nature.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Strobel of Union City; his brother, Jerry Strobel, and his companion, Sue Anderson of Girard; and sister-in-law, Karen Wotus of Corry. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will cherish the memories they created together. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Carrie Strobel; and in-laws, Edward and Betty Hummel, as well as his brother-in-law, Richard Wotus, and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Interim Hospice and Edinboro Manor for their compassionate care.
