Born in: Meadville, Pennsylvania
Resided in: Meadville, Pennsylvania

Paul “Crocket” Jones 71 of Meadville, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Crocket was a 1971 graduate of M.A.S.H. He drove semi tractor trailers and also for BA Spalding Trucking for several years, but his primary occupation was a mechanic and took great pride in owning and operating Crocket’s Garage for almost 30 years.

Crocket had a personality bigger than life and a great sense of humor! He loved spending time with his family, talking with and feeding the whole neighborhood, watching the Steelers, going to the Casino and laughing. Oh, how he loved to laugh! AND it was infectious! His family always referred to him as the “Gentle Giant”. His heart was filled with gold and he would do anything he could to help someone out. Many times he was an angel on earth providing comfort to those who needed it.

With his passing, we all know there will be a little less laughter in this world. He will forever be missed by his family and friends.

Crocket is survived by his lifelong companion, Cheryl Dougherty, her children Trevor (Jessica) Dougherty of Sykesville, Maryland, Amber Dougherty of Meadville, his beloved Grandchild James “Bubby” Dougherty of Sykesville, Maryland, his brother Michael (Roxanne) Ramella of Meadville and sisters Guila (Jerome) Almon of Conneautville and Kathleen Jones of Meadville.

In addition, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews; Missy Campbell, Regina (Robert) Harwood, Troy (Cosset) Campbell, Michelle (Kevin) Komisarski, Jacqueline (Christopher) Richardt, Michael (Holly) Almon, Christopher (Heather) Jones, Kevin Jones, Tammy (Bob) Rhoads, Heather (Doug) Luper, Brandon Ditch, great nieces and nephews, his best friend Dave Costa and his “boys” Dan and Al Johnson.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Paul W. and Elizabeth “Betty” Jones, his sister Diane Ditch, and his brother Mark “Jimmy” Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming months.

Guestbook

  1. We will miss him so very much. Will forever miss him coming up our driveway just to chat and talk about life. His laughter was the most beautiful and will miss hearing it so much. So thankful to God that we got to visit a couple of weeks ago and got to spend time with him and laughed the entire time. I will NEVER forget it.
May his beautiful soul rest in peace, we all will FOREVER miss him.
Please give my momma a hug and kiss up there and let her know we miss her down here. Fly high our beautiful angel 💔

  2. “Crocket” kept my ’92 Honda, Sally, going in 2005. Put in a rebuilt engine. And his best advice was “keep your foot off the clutch pedal!” Two days ago, Sally is driving in ice and snow and what do I hear? “Keep your foot off the clutch pedal!” Always works.
Fairly sure there are cars in Heaven now for him to work on!
    Sharon (Moore)

  3. Paul was just a jovial guy and he attended some of our family reunion being best friends with my cousin Dave Costa. He was full of laughter and made us laugh. He will certainly be remembered. Sending sincere condolences. Love Shirley (Costa) and Bryan Callan

  4. Cheryl Amber and family. I’m sorry to hear of your loss. I remember meeting him at Charlie’s when Amber was singing in the band. My prayers and thoughts are with your family as you deal with his loss I pray for strength for each of you.

  5. In addition to keeping my cranky old Jeeps going for years, he always had big bear hugs and big laughs for me every time I saw him. I will miss him.

  6. The world lost a great human being on Tuesday! He was great at keeping is neighbors fed and providing a warm house for a friend in need. He was the greatest Brother-in-Law, when I would get in an argument with his older Sister he would either stay out of it or side with me. I am sure going to miss his incredible laugh after he told me just about anything! He was kind to everyone and would help anybody that needed anything. We are going to miss him greatly! He was one of a kind ! Rest in peace Paul Davy Crockett Jones. Blessings and prayers to all of his family ❤️❤️❤️

    Love Uncle Dave

  8. We are crushed to have lost this giant personality on our earthly journey!
Paul has been in our lives for about 55 yrs; his boisterous contagious laugh has raised our spirits throughout life!
He was our daughter’s Godfather and when we lost our son he boldly showered sympathy on us! Till we meet again Paul I swear every thunderous sound we hear will be you up there making God laugh like no other…all our love

  9. I will miss you Uncle Crockett. Thank you for coming over and making us laugh and enjoyed talking with you about hunting. It won’t be the same not seeing you truck pull up our driveway and you beeping the horn. You were a great uncle Uncle and I am glad I got to talk to you a lot. Mom and I would laugh just talking or thinking about you. You will be missed in our house. Mom is putting your ashes by our kitchen window that is where we would always see you driving up our driveway. I love you Uncle Crockett keep an eye on me up there and especially every deer season. I have more angels now on this side of the family my Grandma and you and others but i know you will tell my grandma i love her and wish I had met her and have her keep watching over me. I love you all. My angels forever.
