Resided in: Union City, Pennsylvania

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Homer G. Barber, age 79, of Union City, Pennsylvania, who departed this life on January 20, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born on April 23, 1945, in Union City, Homer was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

A proud graduate of Union City High School, Homer married his beloved wife, Fanneil Francis, on June 25, 1965. He honorably served in the United States National Guard for six years and became an integral part of his local community and the agricultural industry. Over his distinguished career, Homer worked diligently as a Atlantic Breeder Inseminator, and a milk tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA), was self-employed as a dairy farmer, and spent 25 years as a supervisor at Snaptite Hose, following his tenure at Ajax Iron Works in Corry.

Homer attended Wilkins Community Church and was a life member of the American Legion. His passion for farming, hunting, and working with livestock defined much of his life, allowing him to form lasting connections within his community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fanneil Barber; his daughter, Tamilyn Barber of Kent, Ohio; two sons, Nelson Barber and his wife, Kristi, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, and Nathan Barber of Union City; three grandchildren, Alex Barber and his wife, Brenda, Aaron Barber, and Christopher Heim; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Francis.

  1. I worked with Homer for a few years at the Hose plant. Always treated me with respect and took the time to answer any questions I had – which would lead to a whole iff topic story or two! He was a great person I’m thankful I got to cross paths with. May comfort and peace surround the entire Barber family in your time of sadness.
