Mae W. Brown

Mae W. Brown, 100, of Union City, passed away, Sunday, June 2, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 27, 1924 in Mill Village, Pennsylvania a daughter of Glen Whitney and Marie Gabel Whitney. She married Max Brown on May 27, 1944 he preceded her in death on January 25, 1990.

She was self-employed working on the farm for many years with her husband, Max and her family. She enjoyed working outside, going to dinner at Madonna’s and Country Table Restaurant, gardening, watching fireworks, scratch off lottery tickets, and she said her key to longevity was eating chocolate.

The family would like to thank Honey, Carrie, Patti, Hospice, and Dr. Baney for the care they provided Mae. Also thank you to everyone who took a moment to share Mae a birthday card on her 100th birthday. She received over 400 cards.

Mae is survived by two sons, Robert Brown and his wife Diane of Union City and Daryl Brown and his wife Karen of Cambridge Springs; a daughter, Sandy Houy of Cambridge Springs; grandchildren, Tina Skelton, Carrie Murray and her husband Pat, Mike Brown and his wife Sarah, and Tiffany Brown; step grandchildren, Jeremy Morris, Todd Morris and his wife Missy, and Rodney Morris and his wife Vicki; great grandchildren, Kyle Skelton and his wife Deanna, Gracie Marie Brown, Brooke Marie Morris, Kaitlyn Krause, and Kevin Morris; great great grandchild, Ryder Skelton; a brother, John Whitney, who Mae raised until he graduated, and his wife Kathy of Everett, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Max; she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Elsie Whitney, Isabel Whitney, and Helen Wedzik; two brothers, Raymond Whitney and Charles Whitney; and a son in law, Richard Houy.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday, June 7th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Warren-Glenn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 62 S. Main Street, Union City.

Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mae’s memory to the Anna Shelter, 1555 E. 10th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16511.
