Sara Lee Moore Singleton of Franklin, left us on September 14, 2023. She was born in Franklin on September 28, 1941, the first of four children to Edwin and Mary Ann Doll Moore. She graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1959 and married Bill Singleton, also from Franklin, in 1960. They resided in the Arlington, TX area most of their lives. Sara was an English teacher for several years and then worked in finance.
Bill and Sara were married for over 40 years and had two children, Stephen Craig and Judy Ann. They were blessed with two grandchildren, Nathan Paul and Sara Grace.
Sara was fiercely independent, strong-willed, and industrious. When not working, she enjoyed tennis, bowling, and horseback riding. She was quite handy with tools and loved reading, especially mysteries. One of her favorite activities was traveling to far away places including Alaska, Tahiti, Caribbean Islands, China, Russia, Europe, and recently a month long cruise around South America and through the Panama Canal.
She returned to the Franklin area seven years ago to be near her beloved sister Cheryl Hedglin.
Sara is survived by her children; sister, Cheryl, and brother, William, and his wife, Cerinda, of Little Rock, AR. She was preceded in death by her brother David.
As per her wishes, there will be no public viewing or services. Her remains will be placed in Old Sandy Cemetery.
To honor her memory, donations can be made to the Franklin Public Library, 421 12th Street, Franklin, PA 16323, where she learned to love reading under the tutelage of her favorite aunt, librarian Isabelle Beers.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
