Dennis Ellwood Halsey
September 24, 1954 ~ July 23, 2023
Born in: Meadville, PA
Dennis E. Halsey, 68, of Townville passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Born September 24, 1954, he was the son of Carly Rex and Wyona Sterling.
Dennis was a 1973 graduate of Townville High School. During his time there, he prided himself in being an “all star” on both the basketball and volleyball courts. After graduation, Dennis pursued a career in contracting and was proudly self employed.
He married the former Patrice Morian, on November 11, 1977 and she survives him.
Dennis loved the outdoors and could often be found hunting and fishing. He enjoyed tinkering in his barn, woodworking, and driving his old Chevy pickup truck down back roads and insisting that he knew the best “shortcuts” that resulted in hours long detours. Most of all, he adored the quality time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. He shared his love of old trucks with them by taking them redneck sledding. When he wasn’t with his family, Dennis liked kicking back with a cold beer while hanging out with his Sheltie sidekick, Sadie and collecting roadside treasures in the back road ditches. Dennis also spent many years raising pigs.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; his children, Karley Whitehair and husband, Shawn, of Townville, and Curtis Halsey of Saegertown; his grandchildren, Paige Whitehair, and boyfriend Christian Taylor, of Centerville, Bradie Whitehair, and boyfriend Dylan Butryn, of Townville, Reghan Whitehair of Townville, Natalie Halsey and Landon Halsey, both of Saegertown, and Joslin O’Malley of Centerville; his mother, Wyona Halsey; and his siblings, Darla Conaway of Troy Center and Kevin Halsey of Florida.
Dennis is preceded in death by his father, his brother, Laverne Halsey, and his beloved dog, Sadie.
As per Dennis’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements were entrusted to Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 33353 N. Main St., Townville, PA 16360.
Memorial contributions can be made in Dennis’s memory to Anna Shelter, 1555 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16511.
Please take a moment to share a memory or condolence with the family on Dennis’s Book of Memories at www.WarrenFH.com.
RIP Denny. Remembering the good times the 4 of us had while the kids were growing up and beyond. A good friend who is gone way to soon.
I graduated with Denny in 1973. He was a lot of fun and made us all laugh many times. God bless his family.

Our hearts are with you during this time. We have loved and cared for the whole Halsey family so for many years that it feels like we’ve lost a family member as well. May you find peace and comfort in faith, friends and family.
Love, Sam Bossard and family
Our love of this man will remain with us In wonderful memories of times we shared together as family and friend. His respected ability to work through difficult pain, his loyalty to provide for his family, his humor, his pride and adoration of his children and grandchildren, are qualities that will continue on giving his family great strength and courage. Life will be different without him, but he will always be with us as he lives within us all through the indelible love that fills our hearts that he gave so freely.
I graduated from Townville High in 1973 along with Denny — we rose up through the grades together. He’s right in saying he was an “all star” in both basketball & volleyball. I wish his children could have seen him play — what an athlete! My thoughts and prayers go out to Denny’s wife, children & grandchildren; plus all other members of his family.
