Uncle Melvin was my dads brother and best friend. So I was lucky enough to have a second dad. I will never forget the countless games of kick the can, camping, hiking, canoeing, campfires, and oh man the hugs. He gave the best hugs. Even when he moved out west he made sure that we were still able to spend time there. We spent summers with him and Aunt Wendy and of course all of the kids. I will never forget the love that he showed all of us and the taught us to show everyone around us. I know he is smiling down on us with that toothy grin. I love you Uncle smelvin.
Oh we’re do I start ? When me an mom went to the house they had down below Cody’s house now that burnt Mel was very nice I was kinda scared of him he was a jolly green giant teddy bear I came to learn ..but in time I learned he was the most best dad to raise my nieces an nephews ..they moved a lot an couldn’t see the kids only most of the summer but Cody would say Mel’s hard on me aunt Lori an I said that’s because he’s trying to teach you about life an now Cody has said to me how proud he was of Mel his dad an that he bestowed in him how to nature a child into believing in himself an that he can do anything he wants an sometimes with blood sweat an tears ….but I’ll say till my last breath Mel was an is one hell of a man an dad thankyou Mel for everything you have done an taught….fly high an you will be missed dearly ….tell everyone hello…raise some hell so we all know u still up there living life
You are a true hero. The best dad to my cousins. You were the life of the party. I gave you a hard time not to long ago at kwick fill and you were just smiling the biggest smile ear to ear. You always had a smile when you were around. Now you get to be with your children and wife and grandma and grandpa. You finally got to see your baby girls again and my heart is full knowing that. Fly high!
Bummy ~ You will be greatly missed, Our deepest sympathy and Prayers for your Family.
Melvin and I didnt always see eye to eye we had a love-hate relationship. We had a difference in opinion on everything. But we always understood we were family. He was my dancing partner at the bar because Craig wouldn’t dance.
My favorite story craig tells from childhood is when they were playing frisbee with a hubcap Melvin threw it Craig missed conclusion two black eyes.
The Allegheny River is were our families became one. We all grew together. The love that grew is unexplainable our kids were more like siblings, following in there dad’s footsteps.
Melvin and Craig treated me like queen camping I never cooked or did a dish. The experience these men gave there families will be cherished forever. Never seen him smile bigger than when he was canoeing. Love always Craig and Holly
I will never forget you uncle mel. You were my favorite uncle. U made me laugh so much and I loved hanging with you and dad. I loved when I got to stay with you and dad we had so much fun just sitting by the fire and talking about everything through the night. I will never forget your laugh or your smile I will miss u dearly and am looking forward to hugging you when I see you again. I love you so much
I have many great memories of Mel but most of them involve camp. He always had a smile on his face and loved to make others smile as well. He will be missed that’s for sure but I’d like to think he’s getting a big huge from my Nana (ma daley, nana, aunt pat). Not to mention other loved ones now enjoying his company once again. Rest in peace. 😇🙏🏼
He was always my ‘little bother” no matter how old we were. It was a privilege to care for him. Love you always Mel.
I love papa because he was always so caring. My favorite thing about him was he never gave up. One of my favorite memories with Papa was riding four wheelers with him and Dad. You are going to be truly missed. I love you so much papa

I met Melvin in 7th grade homeroom. He always had a smile and said good morning. Picked on me for always having a Pepsi and Doritos or Snickers bar for breakfast. When we were in 9th grade carpentry class there was an incident when I punched a boy in the face and Mel said “damn I’m gonna marry her!” 4 yrs later we were married. He gave me 3 amazing, precious children and they were his world. Family was everything to him. The day he found out he was going to be a father you couldn’t wipe the smile off his face, he just beemed with happiness and excitement. I could fill a book on all the memories I have with him.He is now with is angel Naomi and all his loved ones that have passed on. He will be dearly missed by all who new him and loved him. Rest in peace Mel, the only man I ever loved and ever will
The one thing that I admired about Mel was his ability to teach his children how to work hard. As a grandfather that’s much appreciated. May his memories live on in each of us. Know, that his safe, with lots of family, cheering us on.
Love you all, California Grandma Debbie & Grandpa Mike
I know you were never into the sappy stuff but you were a sigil of strength for me growing up. You taught me how to split wood at the fort, batted your eyes when Tyler, Garrett and I all took your wood and supplies to make our little boat fort in the trees behind camp. You may be gone but your lessons remain. I love you uncle Mel..
Together Forever

Proud Papa Mel ~ …that Smile 😊
Mel was always such an awesome presence everywhere he went. I learned quickly that big and loud where Mel came in, was equal to a jovial personality, kindness and pure love. I adored Mel. One memory I will always hold is the day I came to visit his home, early in pregnancy with my first born child, and he took one look at me and said “It’s a girl.” To that point he hadn’t guessed wrong once, and my husband was sure this would be his first wrong guess… but Mel was right. The memory always brings a smile to my face. Mel was an incredibly loved man who was always laughing and so much fun. He will certainly be missed by many.
Mel was a hard worker and a guy you could count on. Lots of fun to joke around with & work with. He will be missed.
