Shirley Ann Peterson, 88, of Franklin passed away on July 6, 2024 at UPMC Hamot with her family at her side. Born on May 26, 1936 in Dempseytown, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Goldie (Buffin) Boyles. She was the last surviving member of her family. She married Lawrence A. Shaw on March 5, 1955 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1974. She later married the love of her life, Richard W. Peterson, on August 15, 1975. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2024.
Shirley worked in housekeeping for the Franklin Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose #69 and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, Bingo, cooking and baking.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Debbie Frampton and her husband, Johnny, of Franklin, Tammi Shaw and her companion, Dan DeWoody, of Franklin, Lori Dailey and her husband, Joe, of Utica, and Linda Shaw and her close friend, Matthew Lance Barton, of Oil City, Susan Reed of Franklin, Vickie Peterson of Franklin, and Cindy Peterson of Franklin; her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Tom Ferris of Franklin.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughters Cynthia Reitz and Joyce Ferris; her grandson, William B. Reitz, III; her great-granddaughter Joslyn Engel; her siblings Kenneth, Edward, Robert and Wayne Boyles, Helen Young, Erma Dellich, Sandra Uber, Freda Rhodes and Edna Rose Boyles; and her sons-in-law, William B Reitz, II, Daniel Reed and Harry W. Engel.
Friends and family are invited to the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm with funeral services for Shirley being held immediately after visitation at the funeral home on at 4:00 pm.
Shirley will be laid to rest at Clintonville Cemetery.

Shirley was like my 2nd mom from the day many years ago I met her will remember the days her Rich an my mom Ann would do the dinners an I would come in an help after work also for her texas sheetcakes she would make for Applefest Fred an I will miss her.
