Sandra “Sandy” Shope, 73, of Franklin passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 after a short battle with lung cancer at The Caring Place in Franklin where she resided following an accident on November 24, 2015. Sandy was born August 17, 1949 to the late Chester E. & Esther G. Latshaw. She attended Franklin Area Schools and lived majority of her life in Franklin. Before retiring, she enjoyed working over 30 years in the meat departments at Foodland, Shop 'n' Save, Giant Eagle, and Mor4Less. She enjoyed cooking and always made sure no one in the neighborhood went hungry. Sandy was married to Edward C. Shope until his passing February 17, 2006. She is survived by her daughter Danialle “Dani” Latshaw and her boyfriend, Stac Confer, and her grandson, Cole Cassano, all of Franklin; and her step-daughter Michele (Shope) Bennett and her husband, Dennis, of Carrollton, Texas. Also surviving are her two sisters, Darla “Jeannie” Rhines of Huntersville, North Carolina and Betty Osborn of Corry, Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her four sisters and her seven brothers. Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, Pennsylvania, 16323. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family asks that donations be made in Sandy’s memory to the Venango VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd, Franklin, Pennsylvania 16323; The Caring Place, 103 North 13th Street, Franklin, Pennsylvania 16323 or to the organization of one’s choice.
