Deanna Lee Gause
May 30, 1945 ~ March 4, 2023
Born in: Brookville, Pennsylvania
Deanna Lee Gause made her triumphant entry into her eternal home on Saturday March 4, 2023, to join the heavenly choir of angels and find everlasting peace. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Deanna was born on May 30, 1945, in Brookville, PA to the late George & Esther (Wallace) Gause. She and her mother lived with her grandparents, Harry & Ora Wallace, in Brookville where she received her elementary education and graduated from Brookville High School in 1963. She also received both her Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1967 and her Master of Education in 1973 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
She was an elementary music teacher in the Franklin Area School District for 11 years. Deanna was among five teachers in the Franklin area schools, selected by their professional and civic achievement, to be chosen as "Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America for 1974."
She had been an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin where she sang in the choir for many years as her health permitted. She also organized Prayer Partners for the summer Bible School programs at the church and was a long-standing member of the Evangelism Committee. She was a sincere & devout Christian who knew the Bible from cover to cover and loved to share her faith with everyone she met.
She has been a resident of The Caring Place in Franklin, PA, since September 2017 where she led a weekly hour of devotion for the other residents. Quoting Deanna: "There are so many sick & elderly people who need to be encouraged and lifted up. I want people to know they are loved. I want to help them recognize that tomorrow will be better in heaven where there will be no more suffering & no more heartaches."
Singing meant everything to Deanna so she organized two choral groups: The Larkspurs (also known as Singers for Jesus) and the Encouragers. The 21-member Larkspurs was started in 1986 & performed at the main hospital and the oncology unit of NW Medical Center. This group is now known as The UPMC Volunteer Singers and was featured in an article in The News-Herald on 6/4/19. The Encouragers, also a group of 21, visited Venango Manor (now Sugarcreek Station), The Caring Place, Presbyterian Home, Beverly Health Care, and the Adult Day Care Center in Oil City.
Deanna is survived by three cousins: Daphne Gerlach of California, Pam Woodruff of Pennsylvania, and Joyce Oesterling of Tennessee. She leaves behind a good friend Marlene (Caccavo) Pistner as well as the many friends from Christ United Methodist Church who faithfully supported her with visits & cards. Both Elaine Young & Peggy Lore have faithfully guided her with their love & support during her most recent years as a resident of the Caring Place. A special "Thank You" needs to go to the staff of the Caring Place for Deanna's wonderful care and support.
In addition to her parents, Deanna was preceded in death by her best friend Patricia A.(Trish) Keeley in January 2018.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Caring Place, 103 North 13th Street, Franklin, PA to celebrate Deanna's life. Arrangements are under the care of the Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
