James Evans Caldwell
March 18, 1962 ~ May 2, 2022
Born in: Meadville, Pennsylvania
James Evan Caldwell, 60, of Meadville, passed away, Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born on March 18, 1962 to the late Howard and Jean Kress Caldwell.
A lifelong resident of Meadville, Jim attended St. Brigid’s Elementary, Seton Catholic School and was a 1980 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School.
From an early age, Jim was a lover of all God’s little creatures. Growing up, he always had at least one
hamster or guinea pig which after being put through all sorts of animal gymnastics, would often
disappear into the home for extended periods. In later years he graduated to his cats which he loved
dearly.
In addition to his love of animals, Jim was a life-long fan of the Paranormal, Sci-Fi TV and Movies from
Star Trek to Star Wars to Japanese Godzilla movies. He was also a passionate fan of NASCAR Racing and Pittsburgh sports including his beloved Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. Other hobbies included listening to a broad range of music, modeling, studying Civil War and WWII history and sports collectibles.
During his ten plus years working at TOPS Market, Jim developed a sense of belonging and purpose
while interfacing daily with his many friends and serving customers through pandemics, inclement
weather and steamy summer days.
Above all, Jim was a gregarious soul chatting with anyone he met. He had countless friends in Meadville
and was quick with a helping hand or a comforting word for anyone in need.
Surviving relatives include his sister, Robin Blomquist and husband Steve from Durham, NC, niece Dana Blomquist – Charleston, SC, nephews Kurt Blomquist – Cary, NC, Walter Sposkoski Jr – Pittsburgh, PA and Dan Sposkoski – Citra, FL.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Christopher Caldwell and Richard Caldwell and his sister, Melinda Craig.
