October 19, 1947 ~ March 3, 2022

Born in: Meadville, Pennsylvania

Norma Jean (Bahurinsky) Bayer passed away on March 3, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA from complications related to open heart surgery; she was with her immediate family at the time of her passing. Norma was born in Meadville, PA to parents Michael Bahurinsky and Marian (McCain) Bahurinsky who preceded her in death. Norma truly enjoyed her life and enjoyed her retirement. The highlight of her time was spending time with family. Norma enjoyed seeing her nephew Michael Bahurinsky and his wife Evelyn Bahurinsky and their two children when they visited Meadville. Norma looked forward to seeing her great niece and nephew Angelina and Nolan; the smile on Norma’s face was contagious when she saw them. In addition to her nephew, Norma was proud of her niece Amy Bahurinsky who became an RN. Norma was sure to be at her brother’s house when Amy was home from Baltimore so she could spend time visiting with Amy and her dog Nicholas Miller. Norma’s adventures were not limited to Meadville. In addition to visiting many US states and cities, Norma was an international traveler. Norma’s first trip outside the US was to Mexico for her nephew’s wedding; she came home with wonderful stories; great pictures and really bad sunburn. Norma’s next international adventure was halfway across the world in the country of Taiwan. Her son Carl Bayer and his husband Darren Young took Norma on the 24-hour door to door trip from Washington DC to Taipei, Taiwan. During her two-week adventure, Norma experienced a bit of a culture shock, but quickly got adjusted after a few days and sampled fantastic food and was able to ride two unique cable cars which fulfilled a dream of hers. Norma’s daily routines were set; she made sure she was in front of the television for World News Tonight with David Muir, Young Sheldon, The Walking Dead and everyone’s favorite In the Kitchen with David. Nothing would interrupt her Wednesday’s afternoons getting her hair done with Nancy…well, there was one time when she was tricked into going on Tuesday so Carl and Darren could surprise her with a trip to Niagara Falls. The only activity that could not be changed was mowing the lawn; to most people the lawn looked fine, but to Norma, the grass always needed to be cut. Norma was born on October 19, 1947 in Meadville, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents. Norma is survived by her son Carl Bayer and his husband Darren Young of Bristow VA; two brothers, Dennis Bahurinsky and wife Nancy Bahurinsky of Meadville and David Bahurinsky of Meadville; nephew Michael Bahurinsky and wife Evelyn Bahurinsky and their children Angelina and Nolan of Los Angeles, CA; niece Amy Bahurinsky of Baltimore MD. Additional survivors include outstanding friend and medical appointment chauffeur Jan Mosley and son Timothy Bayer and his wife. Less they be forgotten, Norma is survived by extended family members and a wonderful group of friends – you know who you are and thank you for making her life fantastic. Due to the love and support of close family and friends, Norma lived a full retirement and had very few wants. Her brother Dennis, sister in-law Nancy, son Carl and son in-law Darren were there to make sure Norma didn’t have any barriers to enjoy her time. As everyone is aware, Norma was an animal lover. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for anyone who would like to express their love to donate to any animal shelter or ASPCA in your area. This type of donation would mean more to Norma than any number of flowers. Arrangements are in the care of Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. Please take a moment to share a memory or condolence with the family on Norma's Book of Memories online at www.WarrenFH.com.
