Clarence "Web" Moyer, Sr., of 144 Valley Road, Polk, passed away Wednesday morning, April 27, at Countryside Nursing Home in Mercer. Web's family is appreciative of each and every staff member and worker at Countryside, where he was a member of their family for the past 3 years. Born January 13, 1925 in Reno, PA, Web was the son of the late Dewey and Helen Wygant Moyer. Web was a graduate of the Rocky Grove High School Class of 1942. He entered the Army in April 1943, and took his Basic Training at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He then was sent to England in October of 1943. Web participated in the Normandy Invasion, landing on the Normandy Beachhead, on D-Day II. He served with Hq Btry 227th FA Bn 29th Infantry Division and saw action in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Web was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, 4 Bronze Stars and a Victory Medal. After he came home in December 1945, he enlisted in the Army Reserves and was a member of 352 QM Petrl Department in Oil City. He retired from there as a First Sgt. in January 1985, after 28 years. Web retired from Polk State School as a Printer after working there for 39 years. As his health permitted, Web was an active and faithful member of Polk United Methodist Church, where served in various positions throughout his 40 year membership. He was especially proud of serving as Sunday School Secretary and Treasurer for 35 years. Web was a life member of the Polk Volunteer Fire Company and served many years on the Ambulance with the late Don Elliott and the late Gene Andrews. He was a life member of the Moose #3000 and the American Legion Post #276. Web was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ed, Jack, and Don; and his two sisters, Marge Wood and Norma Jean Haynes. In addition to his wife, Web is survived by his four sisters-in-law, Lucille Moyer of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Pat Moyer and Barb Moyer of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Dorothy Morrow of Polk. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Web was married to Margaret "Peg" Reisinger at the Free Methodist Church in North Sandy on September 21, 1943, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Clarence "Butch" Moyer, Jr. and his wife, Holly, of Polk. Web is also survived by his granddaughters, Mayme Kugler and her husband, Trent, of Boonsboro, Maryland, and Mindy Moyer and her close friend, Michael Gustafson, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Web was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He was especially proud to attend the musical and sporting events of his granddaughters. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and touring the U.S., where they visited all the states, including Alaska and Hawaii; and also enjoyed two cruises. Family and Friends of Web will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, April 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, with Rev. George Nagel, a retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Military Honors will also be accorded. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Garden.
