Victor was one of four children born to the late Victor Hopkins and Adeline Harmon Plunkett on March 14, 1939.Victor (aka Vic), served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Vic was an incredible motorcycle and auto mechanic as well as skilled accomplished welder and artist. He had a full life and enjoyed many accomplishments. Some of his proudest accomplishments included creating a combined motorcycle/Volkswagen vehicle known as the “Bug Bike” for his best friend and using his welding skills to fabricate a component for the Lunar Rover which is still on the moon today. He was also quite creative when it came to doing things for his children and was known to create some extremely unique and elaborate costumes through the years. He built ice boats for his children to ride in the winter on Cove Island ice and made sure their summers were always full, with many trips to museums, zoos and of course visiting family in New York State. He will be remembered as an awesome Dad who always had time for his children and made sure life was never dull.He was an avid biker who had a passion for working on and riding motorcycles; enjoyed CB (known on the CB as Homebrew) and ham radios and the friends he made along the way; spending time with family; loved talking to & visiting with his nephews Michael and Wally and was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He loved cats and fed any strays he came across but his rottweiler Gunner always held a special place in his heart. Vic was the kind of person who would help anyone that needed his help. Vic knew how to stir the pot gently...that was just his way.In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Plunkett; sisters, Jeanette Harris and Neva Lee Mayette; son, Victor (Butch) H. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I will always keep you in my heart Grandpa! If I would have known the last hug was our last hug ever, I would have held on alot longer… I remember when I was younger how you and Dad would have my brother and I go hide and after a few mins, you would send our dog Rugar out to find us and he would drag us home by the back of our pants. In the winter time we would go out and have snow ball fights and get on the inter tube and be pulled around the trailer court. So many memories.. I love you so much. I will always keep you in my heart and I will always share my memories with my kids. Even more now then before.

  2. My family were neighbors of Vic . He was an independent spirit . He was a caretaker to the local stray cats. He would often talk about his family?? and military service????My family sends their condolences to his family. The Piekarek Family

  3. Vic was our bus driver through the entirety of elementary school. His service is greatly appreciated. David and Brad

  4. I remember Jo inviting Vic over for BBQ ribs when we first moved to Norwalk, and being nervous the dinner would be a disaster. But it wasn’t! Underneath that gruff exterior was a man with a sense of humor, love of family, and great appetite! RIP
