Margarette E. Delaney, 89, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at The Caring Place. Born on February 3, 1930 in Renovo, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Ethel V. (Keene) Wertz. On May 13, 1948 she married the love of her life, Richard J. Delaney, Sr.; he preceded her in death in 2000.For over 18 years, Margarette worked as a M.R.A. at Polk Center until her retirement in 1987.In her spare time, Margarette enjoyed the simple things in life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, and flower arranging She also spent many hours walking and hiking outside, where she liked to pick fresh berries off the bushes.Most of all, Margarette cherished all of the times she got to spend with her family, as they were the most important thing in her life.Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Richard J. Delaney, Jr. and his wife, Jill, of Franklin, Robert Delaney and his wife, Lynne, of Oil City, and Joseph Delaney of Erie; her daughter, Patricia Nuhfer; her six grandchildren, Tammy, Buck, Crystal, Bobby, Brandy, and Carrie; her thirteen great-grandchildren; and by her special niece, Linda Eberly of Danville.In addition to her parents and husband, Margarette was preceded in death by her two brothers, John Wertz and Russel Wertz; and by her two sisters, Ellen Eberly and Violet Kingston.In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service for Margarette will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at The Caring Place, 103 N 13th Street, Franklin, PA 16323, starting at 2 pm with Reverend Brad Riddle, pastor of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, officiating.Margarette will be laid to rest at Lamey Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Margarette's honor to The Caring Place, 103 N 13th Street, Franklin, PA 16323.To send cards, online condolences, or for further information, family and friends are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.
