Catherine (June) Henshaw, 91, of Rocky Grove went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.Born June 21, 1927 in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Harry P. and Nettie Irene (Metz) Swartzfager. On April 30, 1950, she married William R. Henshaw, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1985.Mrs. Henshaw was a member of the Nicklin United Methodist Church. When she was able, she helped with Bible School and Junior Church, and also was a greeter on many Sundays.She attended schools in the Oil City area. When she was young, she lived in Oil City and worked in the kitchen at the YMCA and also worked at Harvey & Carey Drug Store. After moving to Franklin, she worked at The Thrift Drug Store and G.C. Murphy Company. In both areas, she worked for many prominent people.Catherine was well known in the Rocky Grove area. She could be found sitting on her patio watching the birds and squirrels, and talking to her neighbors. She was an excellent cook, and shared many dishes with her neighbors. She enjoyed baseball and was an ardent Pittsburgh Pirate fan.Catherine is survived by her son, William Arthur Henshaw of Rocky Grove; her 2 grandsons, Timothy Henshaw and his wife, Julie, and Nathan Henshaw and his wife, Stephanie, all of North Carolina; and her 2 great-grandchildren, Helena and Perry Henshaw.She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Henshaw of Rocky Grove; her sister, Joretta Widmyer of Tionesta; her brother, Ernest Swartzfager of Oil City; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Henshaw was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Marie Henshaw in 1980; her son, Charles Henshaw in 2014; her sister, Phyllis Dunkerley Smith in 1968; her brother, Harry Swartzfager, Jr. in 2013; and her infant sister, Ada Virginia.Family and friends of Catherine will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Lonny Wolford, retired pastor, officiating.Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Judes, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the Rocky Grove VFD, 29 Shuffstall St, Franklin, PA 16323, and/or to the Nicklin United Methodist Church, 2602 Water Works Road, Franklin, PA 16323.To send flowers, cards, online condolences, family and friends are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com
