Eric M. Whitman, 59, of Cooperstown passed away unexpectantly at his home on June 10, 2018 with his wife by his side.Eric was born October 17, 1958 in Franklin, the son of Harry and Bernice (Savugo) Whitman. He married Diane R. Shields-Girty on February 11, 1984 at Oakland United Methodist Church. They shared 34 wonderful years together.Eric was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and the Venango County Vo-tech. He attended the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church.Eric worked for Time Machine Inc. as a machinist. In his spare time, he also enjoyed a variety of hobbies, like hunting, fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, home remodeling, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. He was an avid musician and liked to listen to his grandchildren play music.He leaves behind his wife, Diane R. Whitman; his sons, Jason Clark of Franklin and Jeffery Whitman of Oil City; his daughter, Jessica Songer and husband, Kevin of Franklin; his grandchildren, Kassidy Clark, Austin Clark, Doug Songer, Gage Clark, Lillian Songer, Arika Songer, Levi Griffen all of Franklin and Liam Harvey of Wideman, AR; his 2 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Steve Whitman and wife, Brenda of Cochranton; his sisters, Bonnie Yeager and, husband John of Franklin and Brenda Wyant and husband, Craig of Bradford; and his God-grandson, Jesse Harvey who is currently deployed in Afghanistan in the U.S. Army; and Jesse's mother, Debra Craig of Wideman, AR and his beloved furry kids, Charlie and Lucky.In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his brothers, Jim Whitman, Craig Whitman, and Dave Whitman. Visitation for Eric will be held at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family requests visitors wear blue jeans and flannel shirts as a way to remember Eric's everyday attire. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14th, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Rachel Johns, pastor of Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be held in Cooperstown Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, 321 Rocky Grove Avenue, Franklin, PA and/or the V.E.T.S.
