Geraldine “Jerry” Jolley, 93, was reunited with her beloved husband of fifty years, Fred E. Jolley Sr., in heaven at 11:11 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at Sugar Creek Station in Franklin. Born January 28, 1924, in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Naomi R. (Smyers) Davis.In the late 1930’s, she moved with her parents to Polk, where she met the love of her life, Fred E. Jolley Sr. They were married on May 29, 1943, while Fred was on a 3 day pass from the USMC. While living in Polk Mrs. Jolley participated in couple’s card club, Presbyterian Church choir, and women’s craft club.In 1960 Mr. and Mrs. Jolley moved from Polk to Galloway, where they became members of the Galloway United Methodist Church. They enjoyed being part of the Galloway Church Choir and later members of the Over 50’s Group. Mrs. Jolley graduated first in her Nurse’s Aide course at the Franklin Hospital. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to host holiday parties and in particular to decorate for Christmas Church and Masonic dinners.Mrs. Jolley took pleasure in traveling to visit with friends and family members. Her travels took her on annual fishing trips to Canada; out west including Colorado, Montana, Utah, and South Dakota; and tropical locations such as Mexico and the Dominican Republic. When she wasn’t traveling she spent her time handwriting personal supportive letters to all of those that she loved. She also enjoyed writing poetry.In 2003 Mrs. Jolley sold her family home in Galloway to live next to her daughter, Sherry, in Oil City. During this period of her life, she cherished spending time with her family and her beloved dog Precious and cat Sheba.Mrs. Jolley is survived by her five children, Fred E. Jolley Jr. of Franklin, Rebecca L. Harrington of Franklin, Garrett E. Jolley and Charyn Brocklehurst of Jackson Center, Scott J. Jolley and Jodi of Denver, and Sherry L. Schlorff and William of Oil City; nine grandchildren Jessica Kirk and Alan, Andrea Knight and Jerad, Jennifer Young, Tom Harrington and Candice, Amy Harrington, Lori Harrington and Jordan, Katie Bills, Danielle Deegan and John, and Wyatt Schlorff; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.As per Mrs. Jolley's wishes, no services will be held at this time. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Interment will be in Old Sandy Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cooperstown Public Library 182 N.
