Janet "Nanny" L. Eakin, 86, passed away January 1, 2018, at 7:15 am at Sugarcreek Station. She was born to the late Wilford and Leola McCracken Dunn on February 23, 1931, in Custard, PA. Janet worked at the Oil City Glass plant as a packer and as a salesperson in various clothing retail stores throughout her life. Janet married her husband George R. Eakin on August 28, 1961. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2001. She and George spent many years together enjoying their family and visiting casinos. They enjoyed their winter home in North Reddington Beach, Florida where they could escape the cold Pennsylvania winters. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, and visited every state except for Hawaii. Janet was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin, The Red Hat Society, and the Franklin V.F.W. Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her son, Ronald Baker, and her brother; Lynn Dunn.Left to cherish her memory is her son, Steven Baker and his wife, Roberta of Franklin; her three daughters, Patricia Osborne of Franklin, Sue Fitch and her husband, Lynn of Tucson, AZ, and Pamela Mensavage and her husband, David of Danville, VA, a daughter-in-law; Kristy Baker of Franklin, PA, and her sister; Ruth Ann Willoughby and her husband, Ron of Chandler, AZ. Janet adored her 14 grandchildren, who referred to her as "Nanny"; Russ Schmader and his wife, Renee of Largo, FL, Leah Hart and her husband, Ben of Lottie, LA, Ashleigh Baker of Erie, PA, Jana Osborne of Franklin, PA, Michael Saxon of Tuscon, AZ, Eric Beau Saxon of Tuscon, AZ, Aaron (A.J.) Baker of Pittsburgh, PA, Rachel Niles and her husband, Jon of Franklin, PA, Lindsey Hays and her husband, Clinton of Rochester, PA, Sydney Baker of Franklin, PA, Cody Mensavage of Blacksburg, VA, Trevor Mensavage of Danville, VA, Zach Mensavage of Danville, VA and Dan Saxon and his wife, Carey of Tuscon, AZ.Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren; Nathan Hart of Lottie, LA, Jaci Templeton of Lottie, LA, Rissa and Rya Schmader of Largo, FL, Midas Galford of Franklin, Samantha Saxon of Tuscon, AZ, and Anthony Saxon of Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323 on Friday, January 5, 2018, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 6, 2018, with a visitation from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm and service beginning at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jeffrey Little officiating. Janet will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
