Esther Luethel Geer

Esther Luethel Boyer Geer, 95, of Franklin, passed on to her Heavenly home June 14th at 6:32 p.m. in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.Born January 27, 1922 at home on Warren Road, she was the daughter of the late John Fremont and Gertrude Elsie MacDonnell Boyer.Esther attended White Temple one year, then Galloway School, and graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in private homes and at the Manifold. She attended Anderson College in Anderson, IN (1943- 1944), then stayed and worked at the Gospel Trumpet Company (1943 - January 1947). Esther returned home and on February 2, 1947, she married Clarence William Geer, whom she had written to while he was serving in the Army during WWII.Her life was spent on their dairy farm, raising children, helping with crops and milking. Esther attended the Fox Street Church of God (which her family helped to start) in her youth, then attended the First Church of God in Oil City for more than 60 years. She then returned to the Fox Street Church of God and attended there with her daughter-in-law. She was an active member in the church and enjoyed teaching, singing, serving on the council and working in WCG. Esther also enjoyed reading, crocheting, flowers, watching her birds and wildlife, and spending time with her family.Her children are Edwin Stuart Geer, wife, the former Jayne Miller, and children, Alan (Holeigh), Donica, Lucas, Phillip (Beth) Geer; William Everett Geer (died Sep 4 2001), wife, the former Bobbie Latchaw, now married to Ken Barker, and children, Dan (Jenny) Geer, Sandy (Joe) Storm, Annie (Matt) McMullen, and Wade (Cheri) Geer , Heidi (Dave) Malys , Jeremiah (Amanda) Barker; Doris Geer Hartman, husband, Chuck, and children Paul (Stacey) Hartman and Suzanne (Dan) Minne; Paul Jeffery Geer and daughter, Alisha; and her 26 great-grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Peggy Boyer, survives. In addition to her parents, spouse and son, she was preceded in death by 10 siblings and spouses. Elsie (Jim) Eldridge, Boyd (Vesta) Boyer, Glenn (Martha) Boyer, Ruth (Lewis) Divil, Grace Boyer, Anna (Andrew) Bloom, Ruby (Rev. Donald) Roemer, Evan (Marilyn) Boyer, Verna (Milton) Proctor, and Jim Boyer. Family and friends of Esther will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Sunday, June 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. . Funeral Services will be held at the Fox Street Church of God on Monday, June 19th at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Lonnie Wolford, retired pastor of the Fox Street Church of God, officiating. Aunt Esther always had such a sweet and loving disposition, she was a joy to be with. She will be missed by everyone.

Although we did not know this beautiful lady personallly , we know she must of been an amazing , loving and caring woman buy giving birth to her wonderful children , and their children who carry these special qualities in all they do. She will always be remembered as a true woman of God. I loved the entire Geer family. I have so many happy memories of First Church of God in Oil City.
