Madeleine Elizabeth Wielandt, 90, of Franklin, died at 7:50 a.m. at Sugarcreek Station, on Thursday, May 5.Born January 15, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ, Madeleine was the daughter of the late Vernon George and Madeleine Moore Hodges. She married Raymond F. Wielandt, Sr. on September 5, 1959, and he preceded her in death.Madeleine worked for many years as a waitress in New York City, and retired from the Valley Grove School District, where she had worked as a custodian for more than 10 years. She was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizen Center. After her retirement, Madeleine always enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.Madeleine is survived by her 3 children: Madeleine Carlson of Cooperstown, V. George Wielandt, Sr., and his wife, Bonnie, of Sugarcreek Borough, and Raymond Wielandt, Jr., and his wife, Margaret, of Franklin; and her daughter-in-law, Karen Dickie, of FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Vernon Wielandt, Jr., Robert Wielandt, Amie Wielandt, Amanda Higgins, Hanah Wielandt, Maddy Wielandt, Michael Duffy, Kyle McCleery, Jodi McCleery, Christopher Carlson, Keith Dickie, James Dickie, Chrissy Dickie, Tina Dickie, Patricia Dickie, and Katherine Dickie and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, Madeleine was preceded in death by her son, James Dickie; her daughter, Katherine McCleery; her brothers: V. George Hodges, Donald Hodges, and Augustus Hodges; her sisters, Elizabeth "Bessie" Koch and Florence Spillane; and her son-in-law, William Carlson.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church, 321 Rocky Grove Avenue, Franklin, PA 16323.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin on Monday, May 9th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., following visitation at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be held at Franklin Cemetery.To send online condolences, flowers, cards, or for further information, friends and family are invited to visit www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.
