Ruth Snyder, 92 of Polk, passed away at 3:25 am on Thursday, February, 23rd, at Sugar Creek Station. Born October 20th, 1924 in Franklin, Ruth was the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Morrison Mook.Ruth was married 36 years to George William Snyder, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1984. Ruth was a graduate of Franklin High School. In May of 1984 at the age of 60, Ruth graduated from Edinboro University of PA Education Department with her Associates Degree in Arts and Human Services. Ruth worked at Polk Center for 25 years where she first worked in the Dietary Department, then was a Residential Aide, and eventually retired from the Polk Center Education Department in 1987. She was a member of the Polk Presbyterian Church. Ruth was also a church elder for 6 years.Ruth especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She enjoyed being part of the Friday night church movies and brunch after church on Sundays. Ruth also enjoyed bowling. For several years, she was a part of the bowling leagues until her health began to decline. She also loved to read.Ruth was a past member of the Civic League & Professional Woman's Club. She volunteered for several years at the Voters Election Polls in Polk.Ruth is survived by her son, Roy Snyder and wife Pam of Largo, Florida, her daughters, Marilyn Ham and Sharon Bennett and husband David both of Franklin, and her daughter-in-law Lisa Snyder of Polk. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mabel Mook and Helen Lepley both of Franklin.Ruth is additionally survived by her nieces and nephews, Robert Mook, Jr. and wife Debbie of Polk, William Mook of Grove City, Patty Baker and husband Merle of Franklin, Judy Miller and husband Robert of South Carolina. She also had many great nieces and great nephews.Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren, Marcy Wilson and husband Bill, Kelly Reid and husband Christian, Erin Steehler and husband Mark, Courtney Rice and husband Kevin, Ben Chalot and wife Talley, Andy Chalot and wife Amy, Jesse Snyder, Christian Snyder, Jim Ham Jr. and wife Sharon, Scott Ham and wife Alisa, Chris Ham and wife Michelle, and Schelly Ham Los and fiancé Bob. Also she is survived by her special extended family Buzz and Linda Monroe.In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son Don Snyder, her sister Dorothy M Wheeler and husband Clyde Wheeler, her two brothers, Frank Mook, and Robert Mook and his wife Nancy and her son-in-law Dr. James Ham. She was also preceded in death by her niece Cheryl Rowland and her nephew Donald Mook.Family and friends will be received at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin on Saturday, February 25th from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pmA funeral service will be held at the Polk Presbyterian Church in Polk on Sunday February 26th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Diane Whitman officiating. She is the pastor of the Cooperstown Presbyterian Church.
